A Catholic group funded by pro-abortion billionaire George Soros slammed New York Cardinal Timothy Dolan last week for praising President Donald Trump.
In an open letter to the cardinal dated May 1, Faith in Public Life claimed the Republican president is not really pro-life and criticized Catholic Church leaders for expressing even moderate support for him, according to the Catholic News Service.
The likely intent of the letter is to sew doubt into pro-life voters minds about Trump ahead of the November election. Soros, one of the richest men in America, has dumped hundreds of millions of dollars into pro-abortion and progressive groups that are working to defeat the president and other pro-life politicians.
According to the report, about 1,500 faith leaders signed the so-called Catholic advocacy groups letter. They criticized Dolan for complimenting Trump during a recent conference call and again on Fox News a few days later.
[It] sends a message that Catholic leaders have aligned themselves with a president who tears apart immigrant families, denies climate change, stokes racial division and supports economic policies that hurt the poor, the letter claims. There is nothing pro-life about Trumps agenda.
John Gehring, program director for the group, accused Trump of using cruelty as a political weapon and abusing his power in an interview with CNS.
When religious leaders put access to power before principles, they risk losing the moral clarity needed to ensure politics is about the pursuit of the common good, the letter continues.
But what advances the common good more than working to protect unborn babies from abortion? Trump has proven himself to be a leader in the cause.
In January, he made history by being the first president to attend the March for Life in Washington, D.C. Vice President Mike Pence, a strong pro-life advocate, also has attended the march repeatedly with his family.
Trump has done a lot to protect human life during his presidency. One of his first acts in the White House was to reinstate and expand the Mexico City Policy, which prohibits international aid to groups that promote and/or provide abortions. This action defunded two of the worlds largest abortion chains, the International Planned Parenthood Federation and Marie Stopes International, of about $170 million in American tax dollars.
Trump also has been a champion of religious liberty. He defended the rights of the Little Sisters of the Poor, a charity run by nuns that has been fighting against the Obamacare contraception mandate for almost a decade. Trump also expanded conscience protections so that medical workers cannot be forced to help abort unborn babies or assist in euthanasia or suicides for the sick and elderly.
He has been pushing back aggressively against the United Nations pro-abortion agenda and insisting that countries support women and children, born and unborn. In 2017, Trump stopped giving American tax dollars to UNFPA because it pushes abortions on other countries and has worked with China for decades to implement its forced abortion population control policies. Trump renewed the order again in 2018 and 2019. The decision cut $32.5 million in funding from the UNFPA budget.
At the national level, Trump also has taken steps to defund Planned Parenthood, the nations largest abortion provider, of millions of taxpayer dollars through Title X and other programs. However, many of these efforts have been thwarted by lawsuits and pro-abortion state leaders who are giving state taxpayer funds to the abortion chain to replace Trumps cuts.
Last year, his administration introduced new restrictions to stop taxpayer dollars from funding research using aborted baby body parts. In 2018, it also created a $20 million grant to invest in these ethical research alternatives.
He consistently has appointed conservative judges to courts and promised to sign a law banning late-term abortions if it reaches his desk.
Trump also has called out Democrats for blocking a bill to protect newborn babies from infanticide. And he has surrounded himself with strong pro-life leaders, including Pence and Ben Carson.
Meanwhile, Soros and the groups he funds have been doing the opposite. Many are directly involved in aborting unborn babies or advocating for the legalized killing of them. An extensive study by the Media Research Center in 2018 found that Soros had donated at least $246 million to pro-abortion groups affiliated with the pro-abortion Womens March.
Soros is well known for using his fortune to push his radical pro-abortion agenda on countries across the world. He is a major donor to Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion provider in America, having given it at least $21.2 million since 2000, according to the study.
Why is Soros still breathing?
let him who is without sin cast the first stone.
Not surprised. There are so called evangelicals who want anyone but Trump to win the election. I’ve met some of them. They genuinely believe God would not want a man “like President Trump, to be re-elected, because he is sometimes crude, and has a sin in his past. As if ANY of the democrats don’t. They somehow feel “righteous” by not voting for anyone, rather than voting for Trump. Apparently, it does not occur to them that voting for no one is the same as voting for the liberals. They are blinded by the enemy of their souls.
Why is Soros still breathing?
God is giving him a chance to repent. But when he IS gone, his 2 sons will most likely just take up where he leaves off. Pray without ceasing.
To be honest, I’m not really sure what President Trump is...
What he has DONE is reduce regulatory burden, appoint Judges that are faithful to their oath to the Constitution, Has NOT STARTED a new war, and has worked diligently to build the business of the USA, and to reduce dependencies on those I do not trust
So, as the proof of the pudding is in the eating, I’m for Trump
But I cannot say I do not have... reservations about him.
SorozNazi sets up or funds seditious groups or front groups working against anything and everything moral, just, or righteous
a more evil person has not been alive since WW2
No CATHOLIC would work with SOROS!!
Hey George...Satan awaits you...hurry up please.
Politics is dirty business.
These sort of attacks are not uncommon, and because the left owns the media or they are sympathetic to them, they are far more effective at this.
You said it as I was thinking it.........my guess, lots of security, low public profile, and never stays in one place too long. Be a real shame if the private jet from his fleet he was on suddenly pulled a Wellstone and dropped off the radar screen. A real shame.
He can't live forever.
MAKING A PACT WITH THE DEVIL, NICE!
I started supporting Trump in the primaries when I became convinced that he would keep the faith with pro-lifers.
He has.
I’ll do everything I can to get him re-elected.
