Also, Jesus meant for His Church to last forever. He appointed Apostles who would insure that.
Jesus chose His Twelve and they "grew" the Church to its current 1.2 billion Roman Catholics in our world. Jesus didn't make mistakes.
He knew that Judas would betray Him just as God knew that Lucifer would betray HIM. They allowed these two souls to exist.
Jesus knew that the Magisterium would continue God's work...and so it does.
