Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem
(Music in The Bible)
2 Chronicles 20:27-29
27 Then, led by Jehoshaphat, all the men of Judah and Jerusalem returned joyfully to Jerusalem, for the Lord had given them cause to rejoice over their enemies. 28 They entered Jerusalem and went to the temple of the Lord with harps and lyres and trumpets.
29 The fear of God came on all the surrounding kingdoms when they heard how the Lord had fought against the enemies of Israel.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem
As well as being a Combat Veteran of WW2 and Korea, Dad was an avid photographer. He learned the techniques in Boston Trade High School, but his perspective, composition, and artistry came from his heart. The Captain on his ship recognized his talent, designated him as "Ship's Photographer", and gave him full use of the darkroom on the ship. His only stipulation was that Dad make three prints of every negative: One for the Navy, One for the Captain, and One for himself. And so, I grew up looking at real, unpublished pictures of WW2: Kamikazes crashing into decks, Landing Craft storming the beaches, and horrific images of Battle. There were also surprisingly intimate images, captioned as "Crossing the Line", "Burial at Sea", and one that really stuck with me, "Dead From Wood Alcohol". Pictures like these were not exactly appropriate for a little girl to be looking at, but I think they shaped my perspective on War, Victory, America, History, and Life in General.
My favorite pictures were of the men celebrating Victory. They were still at sea when they heard of the Surrender, and the pictures radiated joy, relief, and, yes, a little pride.
Somewhere in the South Pacific, my Dad became a Believer. He never shared that actual experience, but he went to sea as a smart-alecky big city 17-year-old, and came back a godly man.
We can measure the caliber of a person by how they act, not only in defeat, but in Victory as well. Today's Scripture passage gives us the guidelines for the right response. Give Glory to God, for He has fought the battle with us.
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
