A pastor of a Chicago church claims that Democratic Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot lied when she claimed police were not sent to his church on Sunday, though she admitted that she sent an official to the church holding religious services during the coronavirus pandemic.
We are trying to follow the laws of man as much as reasonably possible but when the laws of man conflict with the laws of God I as a pastor have a duty to follow the laws of God, Pastor Courtney Lewis of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Chicago said in a grievance letter to U.S. attorney John Lausch Sunday.
Several congregants told the Daily Caller News Foundation Tuesday that they saw police officers go up to the church and knock on the door while the service was going on Sunday, and provided pictures of the alleged incident.
Lewis grievance letter, first reported by conservative radio host Todd Starnes, followed the alleged disruption of Cornerstone Baptist Churchs Sunday services which were held in defiance of the states stay-at-home order limiting gathering sizes to 10 people or fewer during the coronavirus pandemic.
Mayor Lightfoot today sent armed police officers to our small church (45 attendees today) to shut our services down today, Lewis said in the letter. They came with 3 squad cars, two unmarked Durangos and a mayor representatives car.
