Moscow, June 1, Interfax - At the blessing of Patriarch Kirill, Moscow churches will reopen to parishioners on June 6, the eve of the Trinity Sunday, after almost two months of quarantine.

The Christ the Savior's Cathedral and the Epiphany Cathedral at Yelokhovo will open on June 2, the patriarch's working group said.

It was reported that churches in Moscow were closed for visitors from April 13, the beginning of the Holy Week in Russia, with the patriarch's blessing and at the recommendation of the city's sanitary authorities. All prayer services were performed in the presence of clergy only.

The churches will reopen in accordance with all sanitary-epidemiological rules prescribed by the consumer watchdog Rospotrebnadzor, including the rule of one person per four square meters for religious worshipping.

Patriarch Kirill made the decision to reopen churches after discussing the current epidemic situation in the city with its mayor Sergey Sobyanin and Rospotrebnadzor head Anna Popova.
