I don't mean to slide the faith w/o works discussion...so I will keep it short
Knowing with your head that something is a fact, but it doesn’t have an impact on how you live.
How about it.
I was trying to quit swearin and, on my knees, I asked God for help. (What I think is God's answer is mostly my own thoughts.)
So it came to me to substitute. So, instead of using swear words, I used the phrase "Good Grief".
As I was explaining it to my daughter, she asked the knockout question "But what are you really thinking ?"
It was in my head to quit swearing but I was still swearin in my head. I was agitated in my heart...longest distance in the world...head to heart. It took a longer while for "good grief" to mean "good grief"

I still think God honors our attempts.
After all, it is HIM who works in us to will and to do according to His good pleasure.
I wish deliverance of bad habits was as simple as just praying one prayer and voila`, done.
