“Please go away.
Nobody is interested in your obsession with this communion in the hand thing.
Take care of your own soul and leave the rest of us alone.
We are not interested in your flawed opinions.”
__________
“If THAT is his biggest and worst problem...then he really doesn’t have much to worry about, does he?

“Unclean” comes from within. So, dirty hands, dirty tongue? I doubt Jesus would cavil at either. He wants us to have a CLEAN HEART first and foremost.

Thanks, oldbill.”

The poster indicated “Catholic Caucus”, so one would hope that you are either a Catholic, or if not, are at least approaching this conversation from a position that is, on balance, sympathetic to the Catholic perspective.

oldbill, the basic issue with receiving Holy Communion in the hand is that it is only even allowable in the first place due to an “Indult”, or an officially-granted exception, to the Catholic Church’s universal liturgical rule, which is that, in order to show maximum reverence for the Real Presence of the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of our Lord, Jesus Christ, members of the faithful who are well-disposed are to receive the consecrated Host, the Holy Eucharist, directly on the tongue from the consecrated hands of a priest.

When you say “Nobody is interested in your obsession with this communion in the hand thing.”, you appear to reveal ignorance of this fact.

Cloudmountain, what you are referring to are Jesus’ teachings with respect to how to become and remain holy. He mentions Jewish dietary laws, not to find fault with pious, law-abiding Jews (why would he do that, as he himself was Jewish?), but as a “hook” to redirect the efforts of those who wish to conform themselves to the will of God.

As Catholics, who follow both the Old and the New Testament, we know that Jesus’ teachings in this regard cast such dietary laws directly into the dustbin of religious history. And yet, we still observe the rule that members of the faithful are to fast prior to receiving Holy Eucharist. Why, do you think, do we do this?

I AM a practicing Catholic.
I DOUBT if Jesus would have a problem with HOW to receive Holy Communion...but that is just my opinion. He DID seem more interested in a clean HEART than clean hands, but maybe you know better than I do.

And, I am NOT interested with one's obsession with how to receive holy communion. It's SUCH a detail. That we DO receive it SEEMS to me to be more important, but then maybe you have different ideas.

As for fasting...it USED to be three hours, now it's only an hour before Holy Communion. Also, we are allowed to drink water right up to the very moment of receiving the Eucharist.
We DO this because we are instructed to do so.

Things change. Jesus doesn't. Maybe you simply don't care for the changes and don't WANT to change.

PAX TIBI.

From:

As UK public Masses resume, bishops demand Communion in the hand only while standing

The bishops’ document also insists that “Communion must be given silently in the hand only, with the communicant standing, and avoiding any physical contact.”

Why no kneeling, old bill?
