... but the Vatican and various Catholic bishops have quite vocally spoken out against the Hagia Sophia being converted into a Mosque on numerous occasions.

Oh, really. This is the only thing I've heard Francis say, "My thoughts go to Istanbul. I think of Santa Sophia and I am very pained."

But many other things pain the Francis, as well, like border walls, capitalism, the lack of wealth redistribution, global warming, Catholics breeding like rabbits, etc.

Which is more than I've heard Franklin Graham, Jerry Falwell Sr., Paula White, James Dobson, Kenneth Copeland, and all the rest of the self proclaimed protestant "leaders" who normally LOVE getting their face on TV to give the "Christian" perspective on current events.

I bet they'd have something to say about the topic if the Trump Tower was being converted into a mosque though, and they'd be "pained" about THAT, and be SURE to "stand with our president" when Trump wanted his tower back.

But a 1,500 year old Christian church that is the most of the great accomplished in the history of the faith and was once the heart of the religion? Nah, those protestant "leaders" got can't be bothered to even MENTION the topic.

And I can cite a half dozen times when Rome mentioned the topic, compared to ZERO for those guys.

But hey, keep throwing stones at the Vatican from your glass house.

In fact, I bet if you got them on the spot and forced most of these protestant "leaders" to go on record and say what they think of the Hagia Sophia, they'd reply "Hagia what"?

Pre-1800 Christianity doesn't seem to come up on their radar list.

They'll be happy to preach the prosperity gospel at their megachurch though.

And unlike Francis, most of these "leaders" like Franklin Graham CLAIM to be "conservative".
