[Catholic Caucus] Is the All-Holy and Ever Virgin Mary truly the Mother of God -- and are therefore her parents truly Jesus' Grandparents? Francis isn't sure
That at least -- that he isn't very sure -- is the most charitable or at least the most reasonable explanation of the use of scare quotes (" ") in his official tweet on the Feast of St. Anne:
Yet, as defined by the Council of Ephesus, Our Blessed Lady truly is the Mother of God -- so obviously her parents truly are the Grandparents of Our Lord Jesus Christ, not His "grandparents"...

Either the Church is going through a sedevacantist spell or Francis is going through a cerebrovacantist spell.

Grandparents? Really? So you're questioning the the Blessed Virgin Mary's motherhood of Jesus Christ as well as the Francis?
Is Christ not born of the House of David?
Saints Anne and Joachim, (flourished 1st century bce, Palestine; Western feast day July 26, Eastern feast day July 25), the parents of the Virgin Mary, according to tradition derived from certain apocryphal writings. St. Anne is one of the patron saints of Brittany and Canada and of women in labour. As the grandparents of Jesus, Saints Anne and Joachim are also considered the patron saints of grandparents.

One of the Orthodox prayers calls Joachim and Anna “the holy and righteous ancestors of God”. :-)
