A devout Catholic wrote to Glenn and emotional letter of frustration after experiencing a shocking moment during a Sunday morning mass. During a service at the Church of Saint Francis Xavier in NYC, the minister invited the congregation to stand with him and repeat biased statements about racial equality, white privilege, and police brutality. The church also provides on its website articles to learn more about each topics -- articles that advocate for defunding police, fighting white privilege, and more. But, none of these teachings are based on God OR the Bible. Glenn argues that this is proof our churches are in danger, and that evil is not only knocking on their doors...it's inside the walls, too. Things are just beginning to get tough, and we MUST stand up and defend the principles we know to be true -- ESPECIALLY within our places of worship.

Video from inside church starts at 3:17 in.
No doubt as a Catholic if this were inside my church and things like this are often mandated as part of the planned liturgy ...I cannot say a "prayer" such as this.
I’m sure Frankie would be proud.
Why is he, or anyone else, “Shocked!” Social Justice has been a constant political stance of the Catholic church for decades. Social Justice is nothing but Marxism, wrapped up in false “justice.”
The Priest is not a Catholic. He is a Jesuit. OK, that’s a bit of sarcasm, but not really far from the truth.
as a Catholic, if i heard any of this at mass, i would get up and leave in the middle of it and not return.
Never mind a letter, I’d have walked out.
My parish is still, thankfully, free of this nonsense. We actually offer prayers for the safety of our police and firefighters and EMTs at every mass. Every single one.
Marxism has successfully “evangelized” much of Christianity, including much of Catholocisim.
From False Pope Bergoglio on down.
Those were my thoughts exactly. I didn’t hear a loud resounding response from the congregation. I wonder if any did walk out. I would have. It might have inky taken one to get the ball rolling.
I would walk out as well.
Loudly.
Disrespect deserves disrespect.
More deja vu: Catholic complains about xyz at the local parish, writes letters, told to bend over and take it.
Sorry. Been there, done that. 30+ years ago. “Devout” Catholics must come to realize the hierarchy don’t believe the Faith and many are queers. No one should be giving a dime to diocesan parishes, schools, Peter’s Pence, etc. Sure, write your bishop to let him know why you don’t support him. Then get yourself to a traditional-rite Mass, Latin, Eastern, etc.
Oh, wait! What am I thinking? I’m sorry. Wear a mask. Bend over. Obey. Obey.
Social justice and its siblings are false Christianity. Some believe it oozed in to fill a void that churches have left empty. Seeker churches, and others, are busy taking care of themselves.
Millenials, and the generation below them especially, want PURPOSE and to know the “whys.” Many modern churches have abandoned the commands of Jesus for self.
I was shocked as what was offered wasn’t a prayer. It was an oath.
Saying yes, after statements are made=an oath.
And while this is from a Catholic church...religions all around the country are doing similar oaths.
Our bishop here has invited the faithful to join him in a special Rosary to pray for an end to violence against people of color. Apparently he has no concern about violence against white people.
Well me as a Catholic I would tell the minister or priest to go **** himself.
He ain’t God.
Just another piece of garbage at that point.
and the only two entities that I have to listen to at 52 years old are God and my mommy :-)
bump
Shocking? Where have Catholics been for the last 55 years? This crap (sorry, but thre is no other word) has been going on since Vatican II. The Mass is no longer a Sacrifice. Situation ethics in the schools. Priests and nuns are next door neighbors, not people too respect. Churches gutted to modernize them.
The list of abuses and scandals goes on and on. True Catholics would have revolted long before now. Yet, they sit there in the pews, like the sheep who accept masks as the new norm.
A number of years ago, the Mexican pastor of my church used the Easter Homily to criticize Georgia’s tougher laws on illegals. I have attended only sparingly since then. Which is too bad, because the current pastor is quite conservative.
I’m beginning to wonder if confronting such ministers while spewing this garbage in the edifice should be considered even at Saint Peters Rome.
I quit teaching Sacramental Prep last year over the non-stop social justice cause in our parish. Haven’t been to Mass since, either. It was my #walkaway moment.
