Pope Benedict XVI is an excellent catechist; and as such fulfills the highest obligation of epicopal ministry: Preserving and passing along "the faith inherited from the saints".
His lecture on Clement is stellar, and contains this paragraph which shines especially brilliant against the darkness descending through the orders of too many modern mini-Ceasars:
"Caesar is not everything. Another sovereignty emerges whose origins and essence are not of this world but of "the heavens above": it is that of Truth, which also claims a right to be heard by the State."
Save Thy people, O Lord,
and bless Thine inheritance.
Grant victory to Thy Church over her enemies,
and protect Thy people by Thy Holy Cross!
Sing out for the Rottweiler.
I’ve been reading a number of books by Cardinal Ratzinger and Pope Benedict and he has an incredible mind. His writing shows a theologically sound and brilliant person.
Clement’s writings are also incredible - like the letter to the Corinthians
