I was a teenager when “The Big Butter Battle” was published. I think it was one of Geisel’s last books
At the time, Reagan was working on deployment of Pershing II missiles into Europe and negotiating with the Soviets about intermediate range missiles. the USA was also looking at deployment of the MX missile. The Soviets and US left had a well-organized “anti-nuke” campaign at the time. Even as a teen, it was all obvious.
So Geisel’s book as a well-timed piece of leftist propoganda and agitprop.
Now he’s getting cancelled?? Meh.
