Obama has the mentality of a catamite.

Some random thoughts. Nuclear weapons were, at some point, stored at the Turkish owned, US leased airbase at Incirlik. During the Obama administration, the US was kicked out of part or all of that base with, apparently, no warning. Were the nuclear weapons there? The Obama people would not respond, which said to me, yes, they were. Were they still there when the US went back? Again, no answer. So, is Turkey now a nuclear power?

A super power is first an economic power and then a super power. Turkey may have a huge military, but their economy is in shambles. Partly because Erdogan does not believe in economics. He has theories similar to Hitler’s that money is not as important as race.

Turkey is a powder keg of ethnicities. And despite all the liberal propaganda, diversity is not a virtue. At almost any moment and for a half dozen reasons, Turkey could break into four or five nations in a civil war. It has not been to anyone’s advantage to make that happen. But Saudi Arabia showed the world how it can be done because they wanted to depose Assad. Enough money in the right place and it’s like hitting a diamond on the flaw. Bam! No more Turkey.

I think the Kurds are the best shot at creating that conflict. But no one in the neighborhood wants a Kurdish state. Iran, for example, has Kurdish areas that would want to join. I think that’s the case in Syria and Iraq as well. A Kurdish nation would be potentially huge and would really upset the present power structure.

Probably the best approach with such a flawed leader as Erdogan is a quiet, low key effort to destabilize him. And, Turkey needs to be out of NATO and the US needs to evacuate Incirlik. One of the reasons no one is trying to destabilize Turkey is because of the apparent US backing. End that and watch the fun begin. Oh, and I really would like to know the answer to the nuclear question.

It’s my opinion that the first exchange of nuclear weapons in the Middle East will be between Muslim nations. No one, not even the crazy Iranians would bomb Israel. And, conversely, Israel will not nuke anyone else.

Iran and Turkey and Saudi Arabia all have major disagreements with each other. Any one of them could slip up and create a regional war that could kill millions.

Russia also being in the region muddies the situation even more.

Turkey is definitely the nation to watch IMHO in the region.

What causes war in Western nations is the loss of deterrence. In the Middle East, that may be an element. But having known and worked with lots of Middle Easterners I have listened and observed closely. In some cases, they may sound Western. They may like cartoons and McDonald’s. But an incident at lunch one day summed up the whole of the ME problem to me. This guy was the man you’d point to if anyone wanted to find the “moderate Muslim.”

There were about six of us eating pizza. One Muslim and the rest white, American professionals. Salman Rushdie was in the news. The Iranian Ayatollah had issued a fatwa, a death sentence because of Salman Rushdie’s writing. No one at the table had read any of this, but I had read the excerpts that got the fatwa issued. I explained. Rushdie had written a story where Mohammad had dreamed the Koran and not gotten the information from God. Between bites, the Muslim casually said, “Well, then, he must die.” It wasn’t a joke, as he had zero sense of humor. If somebody fell and hurt themselves, he’d laugh. But he never laughed or told a joke and if he smiled you’d wonder why.

I was the boss. One day I asked the Muslim why he was having so many children. He instantly responded, because we need soldiers for the Jihad. Another time he was angry with me and yelled, “You won’t like it when we take over. You will be my slave. You will pay me taxes.” When I left, they made him the boss. The entire department left within a few months...because he was an idiot and you could not explain anything to him.

Many of the Muslims I dealt with, especially in college, had no idea how anything worked. Essentially, they believed in magic. They believed that if they said something, it made it happen. I found out one had never said the word, “divorce.” This was done by him writing the word for me. I asked why. He said, “Because if I say it three times, then it happens.” But he didn’t know if it was a cumulative three times or they had to be said three in a row. And, because he didn’t know, he couldn’t ask anyone.
