As I recall, the prophesies tend to run more towards Ireland sinking into the Atlantic before the end times.

Covid is a very odd virus. The main way to attack it is to suppress religions and small businesses, but to allow mass migration from the third world, and to allow street riots.

What happened to Catholic Ireland?George Soros happened. He sent his goons over there for the past decade first to legalize abortion and next to legalize gay marriage, and have a gay prime minister elected. People tend to do as their elites tell them until it's too late.

How Catholic was Ireland to begin with?
In contemporary times, Catholicism got a tremendous boost in the country when the news broke that the leaders of the Easter Rebellion went to confession and received Holy Communion before their executions. Catholicism grew in the country for the wrong reason: it became Irish defiance against Protestant England.
There are plenty of credible arguments that Catholicism in Ireland has been nothing more than a cultural experience for more than a century; the evidence for this is in the speed of its collapse.

I’ve been saying for years, if it wasn’t for the Polish immigrants, Ireland wouldn’t have anymore Catholics.

Credible arguments? I lived there, and to be sure it was more than merely “cultural”. And then the European Union came along.

the Republic of Ireland has legalized homosexual marriage (in 2015) and abortion (in 2018) with nary a peep from Humble Jorge, until after the factAnd recently, from what I hear, a man in Dublin was bitten by a poisonous snake for the first time since Patrick sent them packing..

After Quebec, and now Ireland, we see that unlike Protestants who are disillusioned with their church, who inevitably go and start new ones, Catholics who lose their church become atheists.

I can't argue with someone who has lived in the country; I've visited it once almost thirty years ago.

The “election” of prime ministers is far less direct than the US constitutional process to elect a President (when followed). The party in power decides by internal election who their party leader will be, and that person becomes prime minister. The process resulting in Micheál Martin getting the job was more convoluted this time around in order to stop Sinn Féin having a prominent role in the government; Varadkar (who infamously has a coffee mug emblazoned with “World’s Best Taoiseach”) is supposed to take the post again in 2022.
It’s more than just Soros that influenced these changes; it’s the European Union.

I visited a few years ago, and from what i could see for the brief time that i was there, this has a ring of truth.

this may be a harbinger of what seems to have also arrived in the USA without patriots.

"Ireland, a nation once so devoted to the Mother of God, thus saw its priests turn their back upon Mary — something which Oliver Cromwell himself would have welcomed."
I was raised a Catholic (in the US) in the 50s and 60s, and - looking back - it seemed to be more of a religion focused on Mary than on Jesus.
The entire month of May was devoted to Mary, complete with processions behind statues of Mary, who was often adorned with a wreath of flowers. No wonder some Protestants were horrified at this "idolatry."
The most common prayer was the Rosary, mostly comprised of Hail Mary's, obviously centered upon Mary. There was also a great deal of emphasis placed upon apparitions of Mary, and the prophecies associated with them, such as at Fatima and Guadalupe.
It seemed like sort of a Good Cop, Bad Cop thing, with Mary interceding for us with the Son and the Father.
Yes, the Mass itself was centered on the Eucharist, and always included readings from the Gospels, but there was little Bible study on the Catholic schools of the day - instruction in the faith focused on the Catechism, a list of questions and answers summarizing Catholic doctrine.
I believe that some correction of that system was in order, but things have obviously gone too far in the direction of secularism and capitulation to left-wing morality. One of the sad results of that is President Joe Biden, who could not have been elected without significant Catholic support.

Ireland should formally cease being independent nation. It’s just part of the U.K. now. I mean thw Republic of Ireland.
