Prayers up
'One vet said “Maybe he’s just weird that way"
My doc has been saying that about me for years. Don't let it bother you. LOL!
Please forgive my absence.
I had to run errands I can’t do with him in the car because there’s no room left over when he’s in there.
Had to make sure I had enough gas to get there ahead of time so we won’t be late.
Had to come home and gather up all medical history/test results and then fix up his pet barrier and “car hammock” thing in the back seat.
So much to do and so worried about him.
There’s nothing I can say that would adequately express my gratitude for all of your kindness and prayers but you know how deeply I feel it.

👍
I pray they are able to find what is wrong and help him.
Prayers for your pet.
His appointment is at 2pm EST.
I don’t know where I got 1:15 from.
My brains are not working right, right now.
:(
Bless you, everyone.
I’m sorry I’m not getting everyone personally but it’s kind of crazy here.
I’m trying to hold myself together for the dog’s sake and get everything ready for the trip, which is further than I usually go, especially in a sketchy car that needs a new “steering pump” or something like that.
At least we didn’t have to go to the Gaithersburg cardio vet, which would be a nightmare drive for me.
They couldn’t test him.
They said he was trying to bite them, claw them, etc.
When I went in to discuss payment before they started, I heard him let out the most agonized wail of despair I’ve ever heard.
Then they had me come back in to muzzle him because he was trying to “bite them” when they tried and he literally attempted to jump up into my arms.
He was never this way with vets before and he’s certainly never tried to “bite” anyone.
It’s just not who he is.
No one at the cardiac center had ever seen the “pale lips” symptom, either.
I currently awaiting proper full thyroid panel results from Dr Dodds of Hemopet fame.
Praying to God that *that* is all it is.
The cardio vet wants him doped up for the next attempt.
:(
I took my “savage Doberman” to PetCo after we left to decompress and destress him in one of his Happy Places right after all this and he was overjoyed to be able to lick and kiss a little girl.
How is your doggie doing now?
Are you doing OK?
He acts just fine.
The pale lips are the only thing.
I’m a wreck.
Prayers sent for you.
What a rough appointment. I pray they are able to figure out what’s wrong.
Prayers
I just saw this thread. You both have my prayers, I was hoping to see an update.
It’s been a miserable 3+ months, trying to get the local vets to stop doing what “they think” he needs and do what he actually needs.
I got him a *proper* thyroid test done finally and despite the other vet admitting “Well, okay, he is “low normal” but we do not treat low normal”, it turns out he was quite low thyroid and started his meds Wednesday of last week.
I had to go to another vet for the blood draw and centrifuging necessary for the proper test, which needed blood and serum.
In 2012, she was the one who did that for my Bubby and worked with Hemopet to get him diagnosed and treated.
She also helped with me with PTSD resources.
She had to see him to do the tests and pronounced the lousy T4 test “useless” but when I went back to her for his meds, she went crazy and said she had “concerns” about the huge variations between the suddenly “not useless” T4 test results and the unquestionably correct results by the famous Dr Dodds of Hemopet fame.
She went nuts in the parking lot, telling me “Then you should have Dr Dodds give you his pills!” when she knew bloody well that was not possible or even legal.
I have no idea what caused the Jekyll & Hyde transformation, because she certainly knows and remembers me, yet was vicious about the whole thing.
She finally gave me his meds, although not enough for the 6-8 week time span necessary for a recheck, and by that time, I was coming undone from the shock of her savage about-face.
[she actually works with veterans and their PTSD dogs...there is no excuse for her going off like she did and she should’ve known better]
She flaunts her new “Fear Free Vet” certification but apparently that does not extend to the owners because she emotionally curb stomped me in front of people.
I drove away and cried in a parking lot for an hour, until Karen, Dr Dodds lab vet called me and reassured me that the exhaustive tests they had done were correct and I should start his meds that very night.
He still needs his cardio checkup but once again, my “dog car” is broke down and God knows what it is ~this~ time, or what it will cost.
I’ve spent everything I have for his tests, just to get this much accomplished.
He does seem to be doing better and the 70% of the time “white lips” is more like 30% of the time, now, and for that, I am wildly grateful.
it is, at least, *something*.
Still, the specter of possible heart issues hangs over us.
His new “drugged up on happy pills” [ugh] cardiac appointment is June 7 but I have no idea if I’ll even have a way to get him there, let alone prepay the bill.
His insurance pays back 90% of his costs, less the office visit fees, which have really piled up, [the crazy vet charged me a $95 office visit fee!] but I have to pay the vet *first* and then wait several days.
So, that’s the update, so far.
Praying desperately it’s *just* the thyroid issue and nothing worse, as that’s treatable.
Thank you SO much for the prayers.
We need them desperately.
With the dog, money and car issues, I go upstairs where no one can hear me and cry a lot.
I feel so helpless and hopeless.
Praying for miracles for you and your pup. Is it possible to get meds from overseas? Please keep us updated as you are able.
Thank you.
I’ll be able to get his refills locally.
A WV vet will be doing his blood draws and centrifuging from now on.
The mechanic just left.
It’s the torque converter in my car.
I don’t have the money to fix that.
I’m sorry about the car. Praying for a miracle there.
Good news on pup’s meds.
