Oddly, although Alinsky was sympathetic with Communists, he embraced the idea of individual rights, and was contemptuous of centralized power. Or so I read. I’m not sure how those ideas are all supposed to work together, but people aren’t often logical in their philosophies.
That's the classic Communist trick, pretend they really are all for individual rights, until they take power. The Bolsheviks promised the peasants would own their own land, but instead collectivized all the farmland.
