Romans 1:18-32 begins with and applies to people who abandon the knowledge of the Lord and only afterwards when they are turned over to depraved minds are we presented with a list of fruit seen in their lives, just one of which is championing homosexuals in society.
Elsewhere we are told that we can and should judge the fruit of a life, for good trees produce good fruit and bad trees produce bad fruit.
So since being turned over to depraved minds is so strongly associated with a specific list of bad fruit I would suggest that this is in part done to warn others about the true spiritual condition of the depraved … that this warning is a benefit for those who can still repent, who can still turn back. It warns to cease from fellowship with those who have first had to leave the knowledge of the Lord. It warns to, as Christ would say to the 7 churches in the Revelation, return to the first love / restore what remains and so forth.
Clinging to the Lord and rejecting any fellowship with the depraved may seem to carry a price for a short season … but …
Clinging to the depraved rather than to the Lord is a broad way that leads to destruction.
Choose wisely.
