Germany is probably a lost cause. I think Poland is about to have a role in saving Christian civilization.
Many, many years ago - when I was in high school - I had a gay friend. Greg was a nice guy and a good friend, but he was definitely queer as a 3 dollar bill. Didn’t bother us, as long as he didn’t make a big deal about it (and BTW we all knew Elton John was gay and still liked his music - it wasn’t like the narrative).
Anyway, Greg’s ambition was to be a Catholic priest. He was quite open about it - he said that seminary would be like a gay playground, then secure employment for life with the perfect cover for his lifestyle. Funny, don’t remember service to God entering into the plan. As far as I knew Greg fulfilled his ambition (I lost touch after graduation - this was just hearsay from others in my class).
I was raised and confirmed Catholic, but Greg’s attitude pretty much killed any faith I might have had at the time. It took marrying a Baptist preacher’s daughter to restore my faith and drag me back to His service, but not as a Catholic.
