Ukrainian Bishops beg Pope Francis: CONSECRATE RUSSIA NOW!

Do you think any consecration by Jorge (the p00P) is going to make a positive difference?
He is so ordained despite himself. Basically baptism is on him if he refuses, not on the unbaptized who asks.
Especially since I believe it also requires participation by many Cardinals.
I don’t understand the use of the word Consecrate.
Consecrate: make or declare (something, typically a church) sacred; dedicate formally to a religious or divine purpose.
How would declaring Russia sacred help?
All bishops in union with the Holy Father. Cardinals are bishops. If some refuse to participate that would be on them it seems. The Pope would have done his duty. —Freegards
If something is sacred it’s set aside for God that means God takes over regarding Russia.
Putin visited the Pope about 3 years ago, IIRC, and at that time, he actually asked the Pope to consecrate Russia to Our Lady. Putin is an Orthodox Christian but Our Lady of Fatima and her request have long been very symbolic in Russia.
Guess what...the Pope (Bergoglio) declined to do it.
And I think that’s why the current things are happening. If the Pope had consecrated Russia to Our Lady...at the request of Putin himself, so less...things might be very different.
Personally, I doubt that he’ll do it at the request of the Ukrainians either.
Original request was made in 1917 at Fatima but was ignored to the delight of Stalin and the Communist world.
>>dedicate formally to a religious or divine purpose.<<
You got it. Want to know more about it? Read about the apparitions at Fatima in 1917.
I heard that it was not true that Putin requested this.
I read a Spanish language “Church gossip” summary every day - the author is a Spaniard in deep cover, so to speak, at the Vatican and has been there for years. The authorities are always trying to find out who he is. He’s obviously a Vatican employee of some sort (I don’t think he’s a priest, but I could be wrong) and he has incredible insider information. So in any case, he described the event and the reaction of Bergoglio, and while I don’t think he was present himself,, he probably got it from someone who was…so I think it probably did happen.
This current Pope has upset the Orthodox, or at least the Russians, with his heterodoxy. I guess by now everybody should know better than to ask Bergoglio to do something religious.
If he consecrates anything it will be to his Pachamama.
This makes me think it's more likely it isn't true. It sounds more like gossip.
It makes no sense for the leader of Russia, a Orthodox, to request a consecration based on a Catholic-approved apparition that spoke poorly of Russia.
I tend not to believe a lot of what is "reported" these days.
Benedict had made a very good impression on the Orthodox leaders. Bergoglio is heterodox and they don’t like him for that reason (with the exception of the eco-freak elderly Patriarch of Constantinople, head of the Greek Orthodox Church).
I think Putin was just a jump back and didn’t realize that things had changed in Rome from the times of Benedict.
Also, Our Lady was talking about Communism, not about Russia as a country or people.
Bergoglio knew that, however, and he’s very pro-Marxist, so there was no way he would carry out Our Lady’s request.
