The point I'm trying to make is that when it comes to Europe's survival as a Christian community, the Knights Hospitallers' defense of Malta was one of the most important events in European history.  That's why it was so disturbing to read that Pope Francis, when he appeared in Malta, hid the crosses so he wouldn't offend illegal Muslim migrants on that tiny island:

When I visited in the mid 1990’s it was one of the most Catholic places I had visited. The article mentions Saint Paul in passing - he was actually shipwrecked there (Acts 18:1-10).

If it were Muslims versus Sodomites, which would he choose?

So, the Catholic Pope is ASHAMED of the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Malta is an archipelago with more than one island.

The island St. Paul was shipwrecked on is called Melite in Acts 28.1. When a snake crawls on to Paul's arm, the local "barbarians" expect Paul to drop dead.

There were two islands named Melite in the ancient Mediterranean, Malta and the one now called Mljet on the Dalmatian coast. Mljet has poisonous snakes. Malta has one species of venomous snake, the cat snake, but apparently it is not dangerous to people, only to the small animals which that snake hunts.

The Byzantine emperor Constantine VII Porphyrogenitus thought that Mljet was the island where St. Paul was shipwrecked.
