Moscow, April 20, Interfax - Nearly two-thirds of Russians, or 63%, identify themselves as Orthodox, the share reaches 70% in the group older than 60 and 51% in the group aged from 18 to 30, the Russian Public Opinion Foundation said in a statement published on its website.
According to the pollster, 8% of Russian residents are Muslim, including 10% in the group aged from 31 to 45.
The total number of Catholics, Protestants and Uniates amounts to 2%, and the same percentage of respondents follows other religions, it said.
Twenty-three percent of respondents identified themselves as atheists, including 34% in the group aged from 18 to 30, the pollster said.
The Public Opinion Foundation polled 1,500 respondents aged 18 and up in 104 populated localities in 53 regions on April 8-10, 2022.
Compare this to China, the most atheistic place on the planet.
Wow, Google just told me 67% of Chinese consider themselves atheist, and only 9% consider themselves to be religious.
Of course, that poll reflects people afraid of the atheist communist government
Just like Putin’s approval rating of 83% reflects people saying what they think they are supposed to rather than risk retribution.
Russians have the lowest church attendance rate in the civilized world.
