JFTR, Cobh (pronounced “Cove”; the name comes from the English word and is a transliteration into Irish Gaelic) was called Queenstown from 1849 to 1920, in honor of Queen Victoria. Was once a major port town for passenger ships bound for the USA; about 2½ million Irish immigrants sailed west between 1848 and 1950, and it was the final port of call for the Titanic before its disaster.
