Moscow, July 12, Interfax - An absolute majority of members of the Russian Presidential Council on Human Rights and Civil Society Development (HRC) are opposed to lifting the existing moratorium on the death penalty in Russia, council head Valery Fadeyev said on Tuesday.
"As regards the HRC, we discussed this subject, not recently, some time ago, and a majority [was] against death penalty. This wasn't formal, we didn't vote, but it became clear during the discussion that an absolute majority is against it," Fadeyev told reporters.
He went on to say that he himself has repeatedly said that it is impossible to restore this kind of penalty, "sooner out of religious considerations than based on rights and freedoms."
"I don't think it is easy to make the decision to lift the moratorium on the death penalty in Russia right now, as even the FSIN [Russia's Federal Penitentiary Service] is opposed to it. They said, "Where will we find executors?" This is a practical issue, and there have been no executions in Russia for thirty years now," Fadeyev said.
Before they eliminate executions may I suggest that they wait until Putin and his band of idiots are executed.

Finding a skilled hangman, electric chair operator, or lethal injectionist might take some time, but it doesn’t seem like it would be all that hard to train a firing squad made up of skilled ex-military or police shooters.
And Brittany Griner?
That’s a good decision. They terribly abused the privilege of government killing people. Like Germany, they should not have that right any more.
FFS, can you Russian fanbois for once stay on topic? If you want to discuss something else then start your own topic.
“human rights” is never about justice and the victim.
It’s always about protecting criminals.
“And Brittany Griner?”
What about her?
I don’t think it’s a ‘her’.
It's only an "execution" if it's preceded by a trial. If you tick Putin off and he has his FSB thugs bump you off with poison or a gunshot to the head in a dark alley, that's just a "wet affair".
