NUR-SULTAN, Kazakhstan — The interreligious congress in which Pope Francis participated this week in Kazakhstan adopted a declaration calling religious pluralism an expression “of the wisdom of God’s will in creation.”
The 35-point declaration was “adopted by the majority of the delegates” of the Seventh Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions Sept. 15 in the capital city of Nur-Sultan.
Pope Francis participated in the opening and closing ceremonies of the interreligious summit during his Sept. 13-15 visit to the Central Asian country.
Almost 100 delegates from around the world, representing the world’s major religions, participated in the three-day conference, including Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin and Cardinal Miguel Angel Ayuso Guixot, president of the Vatican’s Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue.
Point 10 of the declaration said: “We note that pluralism and differences in religion, skin color, gender, race and language are expressions of the wisdom of God’s will in creation. Thus any incident of coercion to a particular religion and religious doctrine is unacceptable.”

This is a big step up for missionaries in Kazakhstan.
Exclusivism is what happens when you honor people’s beliefs, even if it means to recognize that when they are wrong there are dire consequences for them being wrong.
Universalism is when you honor nobody’s beliefs, recognizing no truth and no consequences — good or bad — for belief.
Everything on earth is God’s will. What He expects of men is a matter of THEIR will in meeting Him.
No that's wrong. Everything on earth God permits; not wills.
He did not will Eve to eat the apple; but He permitted it. It was Satan who willed the original sin and God permitted it.
Did God give us the Ten Commandments, willing us to break them?
A big step backwards.
Man’s will, not God’s.
Could you explain your reasoning?
How’s a Christian missionary more easily going to convert a muslim, when the pope signs a document that God wills the pluralism of religions?
Most conversions are facilitated by evangelicals working person to person.
Pope Eugene IV, Council of Florence, “Cantate Domino,” 1441, ex cathedra:
“The Holy Roman Church firmly believes, professes and preaches that all those who are outside the Catholic Church, not only pagans but also Jews or heretics and schismatics, cannot share in eternal life and will go into the everlasting fire which was prepared for the devil and his angels, unless they are joined to the Church before the end of their lives.”
Am really happy Jesus never taught that! Of course He was interested in saving souls not filling coffers.
And how about this little jewel: "Thus any incident of coercion to a particular religion and religious doctrine is unacceptable.”
I really don't see how you consider this to be a "big step"!! It's the opposite.
Jesus was so concerned about saving souls that he gave a command to the church in Mt 18:17.
Not 30k Protestant churches.
Tne church.
There is one holy Apostolic Church.
A person today can’t pick up the Bible and say “God is telling me this is me interpretation for this or that” as the Gnostics tried that, and to do so is a repeating of their error and led to even a multiplicity of sects in the early centuries of the Church plus it would mean God has produced 30k churches and 30k differing messages which is false.
They seemed to be saying that because something exists it is God’s will.
