[Catholic Caucus] Abp. Viganò: Trump’s LGBT gala shows Deep State has ‘contaminated the entire political elite’
LifeSiteNews ^ | December 20, 2022 | Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò

(LifeSiteNews) — A large scandal has been created, as well as discouragement, upon learning the news of the gala event hosted by President Donald J. Trump for openly homosexual supporters of the Republican Party. This endorsement of LGBT ideology is even more serious if one considers that, only two days previously, Joe Biden signed the “Respect for Marriage Act” which recognizes the legal validity of so-called homosexual marriages in the United States, in violation of the Natural Law and also the Law of God.

The Democratic Party is totally anti-Christian and obstinately determined to implement the globalist agenda of the New World Order. On the other hand, the Republican Party is recklessly pursuing a minority of voters who are indulging in lifestyles that are contrary to the Commandments and to the common good. American Catholics find themselves today in the impossible situation of being represented by a political class that is revealing itself to be completely incapable of representing and expressing Catholic convictions in moral and religious matters. This causes voters to become disaffected, which is added to electoral fraud and scandals that are emerging about media censorship and the manipulation of electoral consensus.

Up until now, certain aspects of the political platform of the Republican Party were able to be overlooked to some extent due to the much more serious threat embodied by the Democratic Party. But it is now evident that the action of the deep state has contaminated the entire political elite without distinction, even involving Donald Trump, who up until now seemed to be a source of hope for the future of the United States.

A nation that offends the Law of God cannot hope to be blessed by the Lord, and those who support sinful lifestyles ought to think of the Judgment that awaits them rather than pleasing those who are corrupt in a calculated effort to win votes. This nonchalance in political action by Republicans is no less harmful than the open opposition to the perennial Magisterium of the Church on the part of Democrats.

I urge American Catholics to pray, asking the Lord to enlighten politicians of sound principles, urging them to fight with courageous commitment for the defense of the Natural Law and the Commandments of God.

former Apostolic Nuncio to the United States of America

When Trump began his 2016 nomination acceptance speech with a shout out to the LGBTQers, that was the proof, if any were needed, that the Romans 1 ship had sailed, and there can be no more a political solution to the defense of Godly marriage, as opposed to the Newspeak-named “Defense of Marriage Act.” The only solution now is national repentance, and the only way the demon of marriage destruction will come out is by national prayer and fasting.

He should focus on what his Pope is doing. Trump is no stranger to welcoming gay voters into the Republican big tent. He did so at his 2016 nomination acceptance and featured LGBT for Trump gear along with many other items in his campaign store. This was an annual Log Cabin Republican even held at Mar-a-lago. Kari Lake and others were there as well. Gays can be conservatives too and, let’s not pretend gay marriage hasn’t been legal for about seven years thanks to a Republican SCOTUS well before Joe signed his symbolism over substance bill.

Politics and choosing candidates is complicated. No one can afford to be all or nothing. Advocate for your values and pray for peace and guidance in everyday life.

Blaming every cultural shift on the ‘deep state’ makes the term meaningless.

He has done that too.

Archbishop Vigano does not mention the "Deep State" in his letter. It is in the title added by Lifesite News.

I will not be supporting him in the primaries over this.

If he ends up being our nominee I will still vote for him over Biden.

Regardless I have lost respect.

He is correct. This nation is on a trajectory for Sodom and Gomorrah, ancient Greece, ancient Rome...we are rotten inside.

The only hope is a spiritual awakening.

That is exactly right. But we can't depend on the political or religious leaders we have today to take us there because they are almost all fearful, compromised, and weak. We need to pray and fast that God will turn the hearts of his people around and have a holy resurgence from the bottom up. The time is past for pew sitters and the milquetoast and moribund Church of nice.

Trump was a member of the NYCity elite and had a lot of gay friends. He is not a Biblical Christian, but is fighting for pro life causes maybe to get Christian support, but at least he keeps his word and did change the Supreme court to turn over the bad abortion decision of Roe.

I think we owe a debt of gratitude to Trump for his abortion victories and other promises he kept. However I find this increasingly open embracing of the LGBQT agenda by so-called Republican leaders across the board disturbing.

As I said, it only appears in the title they made up for the article and not in the body of his letter. Even in the title the words “Deep State” are not in quotation marks. Only the words ‘contaminated the entire political elite’ are in quotes in the title and in his letter.

Agree. Only when he becomes the nominee, if he does, will Christians have to vote for Trump over Biden.

This could be the issue that destroys Trump, and our nation.
