Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of the things that they do in secret. But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible, for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says,
“Awake, O sleeper,
and arise from the dead,
and Christ will shine on you.”
Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.
I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them. As for a person who stirs up division, after warning him once and then twice, have nothing more to do with him.
Darkness is what the Dark Side sees all day every day. It's the only view it knows. It's the simple meaning.

One thing that keeps the faith of the good-spirited, Can-Do People strong -- no matter how much they get beaten to a pulp for seeing light anyway -- is that the Dark Side is doomed on general principle: it never learns because it already knows everything already.
There's just no cure for the types who are absolutely convinced that killing souls is doing God's work.

Meanwhile, the Jesus of the Bible is the light of life. Of course, when he showed up as the anti-establishment, direct, maverick solution to business, the powers-that-be couldn't be rid of the troublemaker fast enough. Destroyer of the established world, that one.
Can you believe it? Here's a humble, compassionate soul who's on a mission every day -- now just as way back then -- rising early to tend to his sheep and other animals, and then off running to a day filled with healing people, to give them love and hope and the attention that they need to be brave, rise up, shine and thrive.
