Televangelist Joyce Meyer Recovering After Suffering Major Blood Clot, Confined To Wheelchair
Protestia ^ | July 8, 2023 | staff

Televangelist Joyce Meyer shared with her followers that she’s on the mend and doing better after taking a fall last month that saw her break an ankle and have surgery that resulted in a blood clot forming, resigning her to a wheelchair all last month.

80-year-old Joyce Meyers is long thought to be one of the ‘Big three’ heretics, along with Kenneth Copeland and Benny Hinn. Popular with women and effeminate men, the famed multi-millionaire televangelist’s ministry brings in over $100 million yearly and is known for her word-faith teachings. We tagged her recently after it was revealed she was paid by Hillsong $150,000 for one sermon, and has a long history of collecting sky-high honorariums.

She has a bizarre view of the atonement where Jesus paid for our sins in hell, believes that Jesus stopped being the Son of God for a time, that Jesus had to be born-again, that Jesus went to hell in our place and was tormented, that if you don’t believe Jesus went to hell, you cannot be saved, and that the scripture teaches that we are little gods. This is all while claiming that she routinely receives revelation from God and the angels.

In a June 29 message she explained:

As you know, I’ve had some down time because of a fall that I took, a broken ankle, and a back surgery that developed a blood clot and caused problems in the other leg. And I’ve actually been in a wheelchair for the last month, but today, I got some really good news. I went to the orthopedic doctor and they completely took me off of the wheelchair. I have to wear a walking boot for three weeks, but I’m on full weight-bearing, which is amazing.”

Now that she’s back and in better health, Meyer is engaging in more theological mischief, speaking at an upcoming conference with Sadie Robertson Huff, Lisa Bevere, and Trinity-denying Modalist T.D. Jakes that is sure to be chock full of false teaching and bad takes.

I’ve heard some of Meyer’s “Christian” teachings.

People here think I don’t wish her well I do. I just wish she’d stop the nonsense she does on her TV show.

Needs true repentance and salvation.
Don’t fear what men can do to you...but what God can do.
Proverbs 27:22 may apply.
But God, who called light out of darkness, can also redeem her. Hope that happens.

Now and again I come across an evangelist while clicking around TV channels. I was very impressed by Charles Stanley (RIP). So much so that I now seek his sermons out.

Jimmy Swaggart, Mike Murdock, Jim Bakker etc. are all trash, complete and utter trash. As a Christian, I am actually embarrassed to be in any way associated with them.

However, I have learned a thing or two from listening to Joyce Meyer. I rate her as a 3 out of 10. Poor, but not worthless.

Confidence Leads to Reward

Do not, therefore, fling away your fearless confidence, for it carries a great and glorious compensation of reward. - Hebrews 10:35

Anytime I talk about fear, I think back to my first really sizable speaking engagement. I actually got to stand in front of what would now be a small group of people, but then looked like a million people to me. One of the workshop leaders for this event, canceled, and because somebody knew somebody who knew somebody who knew somebody who knew me - I was asked to speak at the event. I was not their first choice, but God opened a door of opportunity and I gladly took it.

On opening night, all of the speakers were sitting together. It was Dr. So-and-So, and Bishop So-and-So, and Reverend So-and-So, and Joyce. The devil was screaming in my ears, "What are you doing here?! Why don't you go back to Fenton where you came from? You are going to make a fool out of yourself!" I listened so much to what the devil was telling me, that, when it was my time to go up front and introduce myself and tell everybody what my workshop was going to be about, all I got out was a squeak. I was so scared; I was a mess. And I'm not even a really fearful person! But I let the fearful thoughts in.

Think about how much calmer you can be by just stopping your thinking about some of the things you're thinking about. If you believe you're doing what God wants you to do, then just do it. Now I just show up and trust God. Recently I spoke to nearly half a million people in India, and I wasn't nervous at all. It gets easier when you have more experience trusting God; there is no doubt about that.

I remember having to make a decision the night of that first speaking engagement, to either open my mouth and try again or to run. Obviously, I tried again because here we are. What makes me sad, is wondering how many people never try again.

Trust in Him. Conquer your fear by trusting God and doing what He tells you to do, even if you have to do it again and again and again before you succeed.

For Missy who is now in dire straights: When you think about things that trouble you, try to not seek the pleasure of your habits; instead, consider what course Jesus would prefer and dare to take it. And, if the fork in the road leads to two courses - either of which, Jesus would prefer - do not worry, just take one and go. Bless you, for trying so hard already.

Outside interests? Lol hardly an “outside interest”. It’s about the same as Pelosi or Feinstein having an “outside interest”. The interest is in keeping the big bucks flowing in.

I am an older person with lots of outside interest. Not one of them makes me any money. Some of them cost me money, but the focus is on giving back, be it family or community.

I used to watch Meyers years ago. I finally realized what she was. Her spending on clothing woke me up.

Charles Stanley was never a televangelist. He was an amazing yet humble pastor who realized that television could be used to spread the word of God as never possible. To *only* spread the word. He never asked for a single donation from those watching his In Touch program, if I remember right.

She is a heretic. As is Hinn and Copeland. Amazed media got that correct even though saying “regarded as”.

Strawman argument. Didn’t say that. You morphed it into what you wanted to take objection with.

Yes. For the most part, all of the people I know between 75 and 80 have their hearts and minds on their families. All of them. It’s what is most important to them as they spend their last days - more than anything, they want to know their kids and grandkids are ok, to the best of their abilities. Maybe we’re old-fashioned, but that’s been my experience.

Charles Stanley was not perfect (no one is). But he did preach the Word in a simple and biblical way. Any request for money was done after the sermon. It was done in an indirect manner. No hard sell.

Contrast that with frauds like Robert Tilton, etc. They tell their viewers that if only they would “plant the seed” and send in $1000, G_d would pay their mortgage and then buy them a brand new car.

Oh, how I despise those frauds.

I really do wish her well. She is one of the best motivational speakers I have ever heard, having overcome a terrible childhood. That being said, I would not go to her for biblical teaching.

RE:Not a fan, but I don’t find it necessary to go out of my way to say nasty things about people I don’t agree with. May the Good Lord grant her healing.

I agree fully. I may not be a follower in her group but I don’t see any reason to trash her. I know only a little about her.

When she was a little girl her rotten father sexually molested her for years and her weak mother was afraid of leaving him so offered her little daughter without a fight. In his old age Meyer forgave him and paid a large monthly sum for high class nursing care. He just said “So? I’m your father. That’s what you’re supposed to do.”

I’m not against her although I have no knowledge of her financial or religious factors that lead posters here who I admire to be mad at her.

Hard working Joe Biden pries himself away once in a while:

Using his home in Wilmington, Delaware as a weekend White House, making 52 trips there since taking office in January 2021 and spending all or part of 164 days at the residence, according to a tally by The Post.

when God got my attention it was through turning on christian tv, a Sunday line up and Joyce was part of it. So was Charles Stanley. I haven’t watched much Christian tv in many years.

I have since decided God can and does use any thing and anyone to lead people to Him.

It up to each new and long time Christian to pursue God so smuch that they then be able to discern who is in line and who is not.

Funny thing I realized is we are all out of line in some way otherwise we wouldn’t need Jesus.

Many true believers in Jesus steal or deceive in some way or degree, (pens from work, or time at work for personal things, little fibs/lies to people). Some times they even deceive themself!

I think Jesus said some thing about logs in eyes.

Where in the Bible does it say when you get older just focus on your family?

Where does it say you no longer have to try to lead people to christ?

where does it say just focus on what you want or think is important?

where does it say do as you please, God will be fine with that?

Maybe Joyce and others are misusing their position God is allowing them to be in, or even twisting scripture as almost every preacher at a church I have heard either twist or use it out of context, but honestly (I posted already on this article thread) Joyce was part of the Sunday line up I first watched when I very first turned on a Christian tv channel.

I had a bad back and broken toe and broadcast tv and was not a believer. Couldn’t find anything on the few stations that came in clear so as a last resort I turned on christian tv channel. God spoke to me thru those people almost 2 decades ago and I started pursuing the Lord and WHATEVER THEIR SINS, I STILL COMMIT SOME OF MY OWN DAILY TOO, as do we all.

To say you are better than her is setting yourself up for a talk with Jesus at some point that likely won’t be fun.
