On gay blessings, Pope Francis sows confusion: Apparently Nothing's changed, but the press and its advocates are saying it is

According to much of what's read in the media and among some advocates, the Vatican's changed!

It's finally come around to embracing the LGBTQ+ agenda, and is now offering blessings for gay couples for inclusivity's sake, and who knows, soon may be offering gay marriages!

Here is some of the cheering from Christopher Lamb at CNN:

With five words, uttered right at the beginning of his pontificate, Pope Francis changed the Catholic conversation about LGBTQ+ people. In 2013, when asked by a journalist about gay priests, the pope famously replied: “Who am I to judge?”

Over the last decade the pope has shifted the church’s tone and approach to gay people, refusing to take a judgmental stance, something that church institutions and leaders had often been accused of doing in the past.

His decision to authorize the blessings of same-sex couples is the most significant development to take place in his pontificate in terms of his outreach to gay Catholics, and follows earlier, more gradual developments. Francis’ latest move will be welcomed by many who have long called for reform in this area, but it is also likely to face significant pushback from parts of the church deeply opposed to his vision.

Here is even more cheering from lefty Jesuit publication America, citing gay advocate priest (and senior editor) Rev. James Martin, S.J.:

“This is an early Christmas present for the Catholic Church and for so many people who have felt that God really isn’t accompanying them,” Father James Martin says on this episode of ‘Inside the Vatican.’

Martin, who has plenty of pull with Pope Francis, couldn't conceal his enthusiasm:

According to Democracy Now!, a more even-tempered lefty website:

Pope Francis has formally approved a document from the Vatican’s doctrinal office that for the first time allows priests to bless same-sex couples, so long as the blessing does not resemble a wedding. Advocates hailed the move as a major step toward ending the Catholic Church’s discrimination toward LGBTQ+ people, but warned the church still holds the official position that marriage is between “a man and a woman” — and that same-sex couples are living in “sin.” Marianne Duddy-Burke is director of DignityUSA, which focuses on LGBTQ+ rights and the Catholic Church.

Marianne Duddy-Burke: “Obviously, for same-sex couples, sacramental equality is what would put us on the same footing as any other Catholics seeking recognition of their relationships. We’re not there yet. This is an important step, but it is yet another step on a journey that still has probably miles and miles to go.”

That more closely describes what's in the Vatican document, which is more about style than substance and doesn't change Church doctrine a bit.

The Pope deliberately obfuscated it.

Agreed. Papa Frank is creeping homosexuality in slowly hoping it's slow enough to not get too much pushback.

The left within the RCC hopes that within a few years the RCC will teach that gayness has been a truth tradition going all the way back to Peter. The question is, will the Catholics who are still Christian allow it?

The Pope isn’t confused...He knows the edge he’s trying to ride.

Could these truly be end times? The current President of the United States is trying to destroy the American nation and this Pope is trying to destroy the Catholic Church.

That's pure B.S. and anybody who falls for it is an idiot.

“The Catholic Church and the anti-Church currently co-exist in the same sacramental, liturgical and juridical space.”

Fr Linus Clovis
Spiritual Director to Family Life International

Fourth annual Rome Life Forum, which is organised by Voice of the Family.

What Father said six years ago has certainly been proven true.

And since it is true, authentic Catholics need not concern themselves with proving that they are not “in schism”.

Weaponized ambiguity is often very powerful, at least in the short term.

“ambiguity”

Francis’ ambiguities, and vagaries are a curse and maybe a veiled blessing. A curse in that confused people become hardened and confirmed in their sins. A veiled blessing in that confusion doesn’t attract and unify like truth but divides. “he who doesn’t gather with me, scatters.” (Mt. 12:30)

“The enemies of truth witness to the truth even if they do it in a perverse way.” -E. Michael Jones

“Why did he even have to bring up the subject?”

He’s too consumed by and worried about the opinion of the world. Christ seemed to despise the opinions of “the world”.

If the world hates you, remember it hated me first (Jn 15:18). The Spirit of Truth, which the world cannot receive (Jn 14:17). For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in the eyes of God (1 Cor 3:19). Whoever loves the world, the love of the Father is not in Him (1 Jn 2:15).

Francis starts out with a kernel of a good idea. To draw people in irregular marriages and homosexual relationships back to God and to the Church. But if it results in the watering down of truth and confusion, such fruit is not good.

How many thousands of souls are lost every day, including for eternity (into death), while true Church doctrine is willfully occluded in this way?

It’s very painful to consider this.

“Francis starts out with a kernel of a good idea.”

If he ever was, he is seemingly no longer entitled to the benefit of the doubt on this score.

His consistent employment of weaponized ambiguity, a shop-worn tactic of communists worldwide, demonstrates that his intent has always been malignant.

Archbishop Viganó cites this when saying that Bergoglio is not and has never been pope. The failure being mal-intent upon assuming office. Akin to a declaration of nullity (annulment) being handed down by Church authorities in the context of a marriage ‘that never was’.

It's not a good idea. It's an evil idea, straight out of Hell, and it does nothing but encourage adulterers, homosexuals, etc. that their sinful and unrepentant lifestyles may be "blessed" with no confession or desire to ammend one's life.

Instead of drawing these people back to God, it's drawing them straight into the depths of Hell.

You can't bless sin. Period.

But one of the issues facing the RCC.

Another is the support of wearing the idolatrous scapular and/or miraculous medal.

As if a man-made piece of cloth or metal could save anyone.

They don't care about saving souls, all they care about is the Sunday count, and they think this will refill the baskets. It'd be stupid if it weren't so insipid: homosexuals don't want God, they just want God's approval. Francis is trying to have it both ways-- yikes for him.
