I spent many years as a pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America until I led my congregation out for a more Biblical branch of Lutheranism. “Liberal” is no longer the word for the ELCA, it has become radical. Here is what I mean:
The ELCA pays for abortion for any reason in the denomination’s healthcare plan which is funded by offering dollars. That’s right, “your offering dollars at work” can go to kill unborn children.
The ELCA ordains practicing homosexuals and now also transgender pastors.

I was raised in that church but fled that wing years ago.
Before this turn toward perversion, the ELCA was an active participant in the “Million Mom March” against firearms ownership which goes against our U.S. Constitution and our “right to keep and bear arms.”
This is just another nail in the coffin of organized churches embracing the terrible sin of sexual perversion and crimes against Almighty God and his Creation. These sick people are saying the sex of a human, determined by God’s creative hand, is WRONG. This is blasphemy by these deviants as they sinfully declare they have greater power than God Himself.
The Holy Bible reminds us God will not be mocked.
Yes, of all the great religions, the one most universally under attack is Christian-based. We all know the reason why.
Dollars to doughnuts, the first step to being part of the world was the ordination of women pastors.
No church that has ever ordained women pastors has remained a church of Christ.

IMHO, Ordination should be for those who have led their lives in obedience to God.
Stumble, fall, descend into wickedness, theft, lying, avarice and cruelty only to proclaim you are recovered doesn’t cut it because deception is a tool of Satan.
Too many denominations have opened their pastorates to mid-life converts trying to “find meaning”, only to have old habits restored.
Even in the seminaries, corruption is tolerated by authorities who, themselves, are the product of corruption.
I said goodbye to the Methodist Church 35 years ago. Liberal to the max.
ELCA was not that bad, it came out of merger of many different Lutheran groups. There were (and still may be) some pretty conservative congregations within it.
But somehow the liberals took over.
As a result, they have lost soo many members and congregations, but they keep sliding further into abyss.
I guess there is some sociological law that any organization not expressly conservative will become liberal over the time?!

I belong to a small ELCA congregation in Southern Indiana. We TOTALLY ignore the synod. We do unfortunately IMO send in benevolence money, which I know goes to things I don’t believe in.
As a former Evansville resident, please find a Church that doesn’t violate your principles. You’ll sleep better afterwards.
We can also understand what's happening this way: the fall has not stopped but continues apace.
I thought the Pope was bringing the Catholic Church up to become the New World Order One Church...If they start putting odds on it in Vegas, I’ll lay my money on the Catholic Church winning that contest....
All religions have been corrupted by the men - and women - who run them....no different than politicians.
Christianity is simple and laid out in the Bible - men have complicated it because that gives them more power over their subjects.
That one quote “I renounce the lie that queerness is anything other than beauty” is outrageous. I don’t know quite what to think about a “popular ELCA pastor…” leading a chant like that to a group of 31,000 youths! Just over the top outrageous. They’re lost.
Is this the branch of Lutherans that imported the Somalis into Minneapolis/St Paul?
As a teen I was educated and confirmed in an ELCA church. I don’t think it was radicalized in the 60’s, but right now that particular church appears to be.
They need to remove the word “Evangelical” as well as “Luther” and “church” while at it. Leaving “an” as in an abomination.
I left a Methodist church several years ago because they condemned anyone who disagreed with their policy on endorsing LGBT. I felt that was cult behavior. We now attend a Methodist church in another conference where they don’t play that. The problem with liberal churches getting involved in politics is that the Bible becomes a minefield for them.
Lutherans have a history of importing people who hate the things they embrace
It’s hard to believe that one of those groups produced “Davey And Goliath.”
