James Stuart Russell in 1887 (before all of the “current” beliefs that Rev. is about the future) had an interesting take on this. He believed that these two witnesses were St. James (head of the church in Jerusalem) and St. Peter (lived in Jerusalem).

Yeah; that’s who they are I totally believe; be sure to check out Dr. Whitcomb’s audio study on them; got to get to know him and he was God’s man on this topic; let alone Biblical Ceationism and O.T. Dispensational studies;

My position is that The church will be raptured at this time; and God will be dealing with Israel; but those two were absolutely crucial and God’s chosen vessels for building His called out assembly (ie; Church); I actually studying in 1 Peter and teaching that amazing book of Peter; He sure grew up into a spiritual man in this writing; he came a long way since the Gospels in God’s grace and mercy;

Does he go into the mount of transfiguration? That’s usually a BIG hint. I like to think Moses and Elijah because it’s “in your face” to Lucifer.

Early on I thought Enoch but heard enough good teachings that Enoch is a type of a believer before the flood so the only two with unfinished work is Elijah and Moses.

Enoch never died and neither did Elijah. If the second was Moses than the poor dude will have had to die twice.

That’s why some have proffered Enoch instead of Moses despite the “dispute” Michael had with Satan had with Moses’ body. Now why that story’s details got lost is a real mystery.

It could just as well be two more recently born witnesses who come in the power of Elijah and Moses...in the same sense that Jesus called John the Baptist..”Elijah who was prophesied to come and will also come again”)

There is both oral tradition and non-biblical writings (which may or may not have historical value) that Satan wanted Moses' body so that the Jews would turn the body itself into an idol (kind of like Lenin).

Fr. Vincent Miceli's book "The Antichrist" suggest Enoch and Elias as being the two witnesses. Kind of odd to think of them not yet sharing in the Beatific Vision yet.

I COULD imagine Moses DNA in a Chinese or other lab right now trying to resurrect from a little mitochondria.

So the Beast/Son of Perdition takes a copy of the Bible and kills it and it lays in the streets three days and three nights and then God says ...Come up hither...and then the Bible rises from the dead and ascends to heaven causing the whole Earth to fear and a great Earthquake where a tenth of city to fall.../your interpretation is loony tunes!
