They call him Dr. No -- no big government, no big spending, no flouting the Constitution. And no interest in slick political image.
U.S. Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) sticks to serious principles and says what he thinks. Someone is listening he raised millions in one day on the Internet.
No more Department of Education. No more Federal Reserve Bank. No more Medicare or Medicaid. No more membership in the United Nations or NATO. No more federal drug laws. And, no more U.S. troops in Iraq -- or anywhere else on foreign soil.
The Internal Revenue Service would be history in the first week that Ron Paul sits behind the desk in the Oval Office. And the dismantling of the above-mentioned entities and relationships -- plus a long list of others -- soon would commence.
Think that sounds eccentric, strange, even crazy? Many of the libertarian-minded, 10-term congressman's rivals for the GOP presidential nomination think so and have said so.
But, to a growing, Internet-based pool of supporters, the silver-haired obstetrician turned politician is the sanest man at the Republican debates and perhaps in all of Congress. Paul attracts an unusual political potpourri of people of all ages and viewpoints, including a sprinkling of conspiracy theorists and other extremists whose views Paul's campaign disavows. While most supporters ardently oppose the Iraq war, what they all share is a deep disenchantment and distrust of the federal government in its present form and a fervent belief in Paul's plans to change it.

Thanks for the ping my FRiend.
IBTAP!
(In Before The Anti-Pauls!)
I was quickly looking in my thesaurus and find no listing that ideas was synonymous with bull$hit...
I’ll keep looking..
Seven letters: R-O-N-P-A-U-L. ;)
He is indeed a man of ideas.
A lot of them are good.
Some of them (response to Islamofascism) are very, very, VERY bad.
}:-)4
He was asked about that in an interview, and he had a funny response like (paraphrasing):
“well, sure some people would be out of work, but you can always find work in the economy, especially with most people keeping more of their money. Now, they may have to take a pay cut, getting paid six figures for stapling paper, can’t get that in the private sector.”
I distinctly remember the ‘stapling paper’ part, lol

Free Republic Ron Paul Ping List: Join/Leave |
Its interesting that the known ‘kook sites’ like liberty post have banned Ron Paul articles recently.
Make it smaller yes, very much a desirable thing. But even that needs to take time.
This talk of wholesale tearing down of the fed is reckless, and shows even more why RP is wrong, even when in theory he is right.
The irony is I have had Paul supporters tell me “no he really doesn’t want to do that, it will take time”
Yeah, well thank God for the congress if he ever got elected, and I thought I would never say that.
The only candidate who advocates smaller government.
Btw, in case you haven't seen this: click!
"Islamofascism" is clearly nowhere near the threat it is purported to be. If it was, the Bush Administration and the Senate would be working overtime to close our southern border. Since they are doing the opposite, it is safe to assume they see the possibility of a Communist revolution in Mexico as a far greater threat, and are committed to keeping alive President Calderon's safety valve.
Administration actions since indicate that the "Islamofascist" threat was largely destroyed by US military action in Afghanistan in late 2001.
Der Paul HAS no ideas. Here is his “issues” page.
http://www.ronpaul2008.com/issues/
There are NO ideas here, just slogans and hysteric ranting about everything and everyone. A bunch of demagogue slogans ran together to push his drones emotional hot buttons are NOT “ideas” There isn’t a single idea on how to do a single thing anywhere here, just a bunch of slogans!
IF Paul actually had an idea on anything other then running away from Iraq, he might be credible but he has none.
Such as . . . ?
And where has Paul advocated disassembling the "entire federal government over just a few months?"
Make it smaller yes, very much a desirable thing. But even that needs to take time.
Where has Paul said differently?
This talk of wholesale tearing down of the fed is reckless, and shows even more why RP is wrong, even when in theory he is right.
What's reckless is standing by silently as the federal government gets ever bigger and ever more intrusive.
What's reckless is voting in politicians that you know will continue feeding and growing the federal government against your own wishes.
Let's say the federal government is a cancer. Are you going to go with the doctor that will vigorously attack the cancer and get it out of your life? Or do you go with the doctor that let's things go the way they are going and even advocates putting into place treatments that will help the cancer grow even further?
The irony is I have had Paul supporters tell me no he really doesnt want to do that, it will take time
The irony to me is to have conservatives tell me that shrinking the federal government is "reckless" and could be "disastrous."
More MSM hype of this sure loser. Anything to sow conflict in the GOP.
