Thank you so much for telling us about your MIL. It must be wonderful to hear her stories. I hope you all are writing some of them down for history.

I know the end must come, but I'm still quite melancholy today. I keep gravitating to great pictures and such.

Lucas was overly cautious, spent valuable time digging in, and allowed the Germans to prepare countermeasures to ensure that an operation conceived as a daring Allied offensive behind enemy lines became a long, costly campaign of attrition. Dang! beached himself. Dumb dumb dumb - he lost all initiative and surprise.

1911 - 2004
It is not my intention to do away with government. It is rather to make it work -- work with us, not over us; stand by our side, not ride on our back. Government can and must provide opportunity, not smother it; foster productivity, not stifle it.

A sad day. Perhaps he's back riding already. One of my favorites.

HI snippy. I was up early 7:00 am and was picked up at 9:00 to go the graves. Very overcast here today, sprinkled this morning, but no downpours. It's quite cool, too.
Got to stop in and visit my brother and get a look at his new trailer.
We arrived back at my place (my daughters) with KFC for lunch. After they left I hit the couch and slept for two hours. Not used to getting up so early. ;-)

Evening everyone. I should post this here, too. Rest in peace Mr. President.
Tie the Strings to my Life, My Lord,
Then, I am ready to go!
Just a look at the Horses
Rapid! That will do!
Put me in on the firmest side
So I shall never fall
For we must ride to the Judgment
And it's partly, down Hill.
But never I mind the steeper
And never I mind the Sea
Held fast in Everlasting Race
By my own Choice, and Thee.
Goodbye to the Life I used to live
And the World I used to know
And kiss the Hills, for me, just once
Then -- I am ready to go!
~ Emily Dickinson
