I’d buy it just for the nostalgic value of holding a rifle I shot 45+ years ago.

If I paid over 2700 for a rifle like that (sales tax don’tchaknow) I wouldn’t have any money for ammo. Does it take a CMMG .22lr conversion kit? LOL

If you want to do that, go buy a standard lower receiver and go get an actual *original* A1 that was sent out under FMS and has been returned to the US as a parts kit. You’ll spend less than half the price and get an original.

For me, the first military rifles I "field stripped were the M1 Garand, M1 & M2 Carbines and the BAR in High School.

My first Army rifle was the M14 which was just as accurate but better than the M1, no more smashed thumbs for me.
