I wore pinks and greens in ROTC then wore the Army green uniform on active duty. At least the pinks and greens looked like a military uniform and people didn’t confuse you with a bus driver.

I was one of the last flights at Lackland AFB to be issued 1505 khaki uniforms in 1975 before the 1550/1551 uniform was phased in. Some of mine had clearly been on the depot shelf for years, possibly back before 1947. They clearly had either a gray or a pink hue next to my coworkers. I bought the new uniform as soon as I could afford it. I don't remember how many years we had for a grace period.

You calling General Patton a fag?

He don't skur me none.

I could take him.

Gotta dig him up first.

The Army needs to knock it off; I think the pinks and green look great, but unfortunately, it will give my old branch (the USAF) ideas, and virtually all of our uniform changes have been unmitigated disasters.

I liked the Khaki 1505 to lt blue dark blue 1550/1551 transition. Except for my own mismatched 1505 uniforms.

I liked wearing my c____t cap.

You're not going to be able to explain that to anyone that doesn't know. Can you imagine a TI saying that in today's military?

"I liked wearing my c____t cap."

The most worthless piece of headgear ever devised by man.

This is great news. I cringe every time I see Army soldiers in downtown Denver wearing combat fatigues. Compared to the other services the Army guys look sloppy. We need a uniform between combat fatigues and dress blues and it looks like we’re finally getting one.

I hope the return the Dress Blues to its former status as a Formal Wear uniform and not ditch it completely; i.e. just as we had Dress Blues and Class A green uniform during my 20 years in the Army.

“Yeah, but why?”

Morale.

Zumwalt was the worst CNO in living memory. After he blessedly left, the Navy began to try and rescue the uniform.

I was in the club on Treasure Island in 1977 when, for the first time in forever, a sailor walked in wearing the old crackerjack uniform. Every sailor in the place stood up, cheered, and applauded.

And some of those guys were waiting for admin discharge.

Of course, the Army has shot themselves in the foot with this picture of a woman wearing the 1st Cav patch and combat infantryman’s badge. It is truly nauseating.

It’s funny seeing the comments from people who have no idea what pinks and greens are.

It is. I’ve seen the new uniforms. That’s the image of a soldier in the US Army I grew up seeing as a kid. (I’m 62). I never liked that beret. Looks too much like some Euro weenie soldier.

You can’t touch it because if you do you get an indelible stain visible at 100 yards.

An interesting item that I did not know was that pink was not considered a girl’s only color until about 1945. Some little baby boy clothes in 1920 were commonly pink and other colors not exclusively blue.
