Let’s not forget that most of the officers of the Polish Army were massacred by the Soviet Communists.

As WW2 came to an end in Eastern Europe many strange alliances were struck. German soldiers, even Waffen SS, turned up in anti-Soviet and anti-Nazi resistance groups in the Ukraine, the Baltic States and in the Carpathian Mountains of Poland. Heavy fighting went on between Germans and Soviets for a number of weeks after May 7/8. One US division, at least, MG Miley’s 13th Airborne allowed Wehrmacht ammo train units to enter the division AOR and load up at German ammo supply points intact within US lines. US MP’s always escorted these convoys and any German plenipotentiaries traveling to division HQ. Fighting went on for years against the Soviets in SE Poland and the western Ukraine and resistance did not end in the Baltic states until well into the 1950’s (with some US assistance).

And that the Communists were Nazi allies at the time, and helped start WWII with the dismemberment of Poland.
