Linda Tripp: Not All Heroes Are Honored
Too Good Reports ^ | December 11, 2001 | Chuck Baldwin

Posted on 12/11/2001 5:31:10 AM PST by Stand Watch Listen

The horrific events of September 11 gave rise to many acts of heroism by numerous brave Americans. Many of these stouthearted souls have been duly honored. However, not all heroes are so honored. Some are left to suffer the devastating consequences of their courage alone and are totally forgotten. One such American hero is Linda Tripp.

Does anyone remember Linda Tripp? Linda is the Pentagon employee whose honesty and courage led to Bill Clinton's impeachment. During a time when Democrats were 800-pound gorillas, Republicans were 90-pound weaklings, and the media were nothing more than Clinton lap dogs, Linda Tripp stood up to the awesome power of the establishment in a fashion not heard of since little David faced off against Goliath of Gath. Unfortunately for Linda (and for the rest of us, too), she has not been rewarded for her sacrifice.

Instead, news reports recently revealed that Tripp is virtually penniless. She has not been able to find work since being fired by Clinton's war machine. As a result, she has lost her home to foreclosure, and any prospects for gainful employment appear minimal. Linda went from a job paying more than $100,000 per year to joblessness and penury almost overnight. "For what reason?" you ask. She heroically stood up for truth, justice, and constitutional government.

President Bush's "compassionate conservatism" has not helped, either. One would think that one of Bush's first priorities would be to reward those great Americans who suffered so intensely under Clinton. It did not happen. Linda's phone never rang; her job was given to someone else. Linda Tripp has been treated as so much debris. She has received no kind words, no congratulations, no accolades, no rewards, nothing. However, Linda Tripp is an American hero! She represents justice and courage in a way that most people could only dream about.

It appears that heroes are not created equal. It is not enough that one is heroic; he or she must be heroic in a matter deemed politically correct. Therefore, Linda Tripp is left to live out her days in obscurity, without appreciation or honor. Instead, Linda has seen herself become the butt end of every late night comedian's act. She has been denigrated by the press, hounded by the Democratic Party, and abandoned by the Republican Party.

No, not all heroes are honored. Some, like Linda Tripp, must wait for a higher power to reward them. In the end, I suppose it is always that way. Real heroes do not seek the applause of others; their reward was found in what they did. They make most of us seem small – especially that crowd in Washington, D.C.

Not to pass judgement or anything, but could it be that Linda Tripp is still unemployed because employers are reticent to hire someone who has illegally recorded private conversations, and then made those recordings public? A trust issue, perhaps?

I must say I am stunned by the turn-about attitude of Freepers. During the Clinton impeachment, Linda was getting constant praise around here for her courage and forthright honesty. Now she's the red-headed step child that nobody has a kind word for.

I think a lot of people are mad at her because of the hash Ken Starr made of the investigation. I feel very sorry for her, and think she deserves better. I must confess to being very disappointed in my fellow Freepers for their callous fickleness.

I guess it's true. Nobody loves you when you're down and out. Too bad.

If the people here (at FR) will not lend a hand to Linda Tripp then the remnants of this nation have tanked indeed.

A good point regarding loyalty. People are like chickens, they like to pick on the vulnerable. Linda Tripp was honest enough to expose corruption at its source and now we get comments on her trustworthiness being a factor in her employment opportunities. I guess these fairweather friends would rather have the corruption than the exposing of it by Linda.

Give me a break jarhead. Maybe she's too moral, and not corruptable.

Linda is just another ruined life brought about by the Clinton's grip on the country for eight years.

I am disappointed also. If I was in her position, I would have done the same thing. The only other option was to commit perjury. I'd rather be a "taper" than a perjurer.

That's defamation, sir. Her recordings were not illegal, and you are a pig for repeating this false accusation.

You are a cad and a liar, too: "Not to pass judgement or anything", is a bold lie of a disclaimer. For that evil is exactly what you are doing, and a spurious, medacious, false judgement at that.

The word you want is "reluctant," not "reticent."

The word in the U.S. is "judgment," not "judgement."

I don't know -- seems Tripp had three choices. Tripp could lie to Starr, i.e., perjure herself; tell the truth and make a few recordings to verify her story; or tell the truth and face perjury charges brought by Whitehouse intent on destroying anyone who defied them.

In the same circumstances, I'd have done the same thing.

I wish she'd write a book. I'd buy it, and I'm sure many others would as well.

Hey - I made donations - same as I did to Judicial Watch. But the monthly dun gets old. Linda needs a job and I would think that somewhere in the vast pork of the federal Govt. GWB could give her work. How 'bout it George??

"...has illegally recorded private conversations, and then made those recordings public...."

So, are you admitting that you would have gone along with the Clinton/Lewinski lying and corruption----it's an honor thing.

I still am thankful that Linda was brave against the Clinton Crime Machine and the hate filled liberal press, but I did get annoyned with her when she allowed Larry Klayman to use her for fund raising.
