Texas Sen. Ted Cruz(R) has no interest in becoming President Trumps next Supreme Court nominee.
I revere the institution and what it has meant for our country, for the constitution, for the rule of law the short answer is no, the Republican told Hill.tvs Buck Sexton. Cruz says he prefers to instead stay in politics.
I dont want to stay out of political and policy fights. I want to be right in the middle of them. The Senate is the battleground for just about every big policy fight right now, he said.
The senator is running for reelection against Democratic Rep. Beto ORourke and the race remains tight. The state swung heavily toward Hillary Clinton in 2016, according to RealClear Politics.

Then he needs to stay there.......
He’s not on the list anyway.
You’ve got to be on the list.
Ted wants to be president. He should have persisted in his friendly relationship with Trump during the 2016 campaign and become his VP running mate. He blew it, but maybe he’s recovering and will reach his potential in national politics in the future.
At this point in time there can be no more pics of republicans from the senate to fill other vacancies. For obvious reasons.
If there wasn’t talk of doing it, he wouldn’t have been asked the question. He clerked at the Supreme Court, he was very successful as the Texas Solicitor General and he did very well at Harvard Law School and he’s Hispanic.
I doubt he could get confirmed. Somebody would ask him about his Canadian citizenship. And if as he claimed at Harvard he supported the ‘original intent’ how could he think he was eligible to hold the office of president.
Fat chance he had anyway!
Neither the Texas or Utah governors would appoint a Democrat to take their places so your worries are unfounded.
He’s of Cuban extraction! Every Cuban-American I know will tell you that’s not Hispanic!
There you are. Were you napping?
We need Ted in Texas, if only to combat the Beto/Pedo push.
Which is exactly why the left wants to be on the courts.
Fond memeories of Dershowitz praising him to the skies, and then hemming and hawing when asked about Obama ("I didn't keep him out of my class. The scheduling computer did." LOL!)
Agreed. The socialist Beto needs to be slapped down. The rats are spending a fortune on his campaign, which will be doubly satisfying when hes defeated.
I support him being a Texas Senator.
I will never vote for any ineligible candidate.
Anwar Al-Awlaki’s kids are as eligible as Ted Cruz.
He was the editor of three law journals (not just one like Mr. Obama) and actually contributed to all three, unlike Mr. Obama.
That would be my objection to having him on the court.
All the winning has lulled me into a nap during the workday.
