Republican Party Hits Eight-Year Low For Cash: Could Lack Of Large Donors Hurt 2024 Election Odds?
Price Action EA ^ | 11/29/2023 | Chris Katje

With a potential rematch of Donald Trump versus Joe Biden, advertising spending is expected to hit records for the 2024 election cycle.

This could be bad news for the Republican National Committee, which has reported lower political donations.

What Happened: Donald Trump leads many national polls ahead of President Joe Biden and has a commanding lead over his Republican competition for the GOP nomination for the presidential election in polls.

The Republican National Committee might not be able to help Trump or other candidates out as much as they have in recent elections, based on the size of its current war chest.

According to the Washington Post, the RNC had $9.1 million in cash at the end of October, as per a party disclosure. This total was the lowest for the RNC in any Federal Election Commission report since February 2015.

The report could be worrisome as the RNC had around $20 million, or over double at this point in the 2016 election cycle and had around $61 million at this point four years ago for the 2020 election cycle.

The Democratic National Committee had around $17.7 million as reported for the end of October, ranking nearly double that of the amount from the RNC.

Reports say the RNC is getting less large checks from political donors and its amount of small donations has also fallen.

"We're going through the same efforts we always go through to raise money: the same donor meetings, retreats, digital advertising, direct mail," RNC member Oscar Brock said, as shared by the Washington Post.

Reports said some donors might not be making donations this year as the donations could directly benefit Trump, a person that not all Republicans were willing to support with their own money.

Lower donation amounts and totals could also come as a result of higher inflation and tightened consumer spending.

RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel cited voters giving more to individual candidates instead of the overall party as a reason for the lower donation amounts.

"I think there's more donors just fully committed to their candidate right now, saying I am all in, and once the nominee is set, I'll be there," McDaniel said.

Why It's Important: Concerns over the amount of cash the Republican National Committee has could be escalated with Trump's call to cancel Republican primary debates to save money.

"RNC must save money on lowest ever ratings debates. Use it against the Democrats to STOP THE STEAL! If not, REVAMP THE RNC NOW!!!" Trump recently said.

Trump also expressed concerns that the RNC was ready to help with the 2024 election.

Increased concerns for the RNC also came after the party lost several key races and ballot initiatives in recent elections.

With a highly competitive 2024 election race expected between party frontrunners Trump and Biden, the low amount of cash the RNC has and lack of big donations could be worrisome. Trump was able to increase his war chest in recent quarters.

President TRump and Mitch McCOnnel have all the money.

The RNC is simply ineffectively split between Never Trumpers and Pro Trumpers.People are donating directly to President Trump for good reason.

Theres plenty of money. The RNC also does not run itself the way the Dems do.

Let the opposition think that Republicans have no funds........!

Given the Democrats and RINOs are the same party, why would "deep pockets" continue to support the second place in any race?

Until there arise many true and principled conservatives -- make government smaller and less expensive and less invasive -- big money seeking to buy influence will simply flow to the best chance. It has become a casino, with so many of the dealers palming aces and weighting the now "many-armed" bandits.

One reads:

The state is an organized crime racket. It appropriates wealth by coercion and regularly uses force in violation of the nonaggression principle. The state is a parasite that perpetuates itself at all costs and extends itself by any means possible. Regardless of its putative leaders, the state grows and increases its power at the expense of its hosts and others who fall victim to its predations.

As Hans-Hermann Hoppe poignantly wrote, states are “gangs of murderers, plunderers and thieves, surrounded by willing executioners, propagandists, sycophants, crooks, liars, clowns, charlatans, dupes and useful idiots—[the state is] an institution that dirties and taints everything it touches.”

One of the state's dirty occupations is war. When undertaking war, the state uses expropriated wealth and human capital to defend its territory or extend its reach and influence. Clearing away the fog of statist preconceptions regarding war, Hoppe explains that war is gang warfare: “Gang wars, then, typically involving some territorial issues, are always wars conducted by rival gang leaders with other people's money, machines and manpower (just think of taxation and compulsory conscription!).”

The fundamental problem is that it takes expert planning, time, and resources for a party organization to prepare for a general election. And Ronna just ain't getting it done. No cash means no gas, and no gas means no go.

The party that supports turncoats Romney and larda$$ Chris Krispycreme is NOT my party.

I double dog dare them to call me personally and beg to fund their traitorous ways.

They ignore the will of the people who have supported them.

Seemingly has not dawned on the establishment that they no longer have a voter base. A significant percentage of Trumps supporters are not Republicans, myself included.

Lack of money won’t hurt their odds. Other “Republicans” working with the Democrats will.

They do nothing. From loud broadcast “investigations” that go nowhere to the disregard of our nation’s borders and security, the GOP is simply a mirror for the Marxists in power.

Trump doesn’t need as many donors as people think. He already ran for president, was president so he really doesn’t have to make a case on why to elect him. Just saying that Joe Biden destroyed the American dream should be enough and that could be accomplished by taking out billboard space in multiple cities. Especially highways where people sit in heavy traffic.

The Biden administration pretty much wrote all the ads the RNC needs. Trump is flying around on his own dime and he has retained many of his high dollar donors and will definitely increase his war chest with small donations.

The RNC is their own worst enemy. Always have been, always will be.

I think people should only be able to donate only to candidates that directly represent them. No donating to other states or districts.

I’m getting the same. Numerous spam phone calls each day from a political group and since I’ve always voted republican, I know it is not the dems calling. There is no use blocking the numbers because the number will just change slightly and continue on non-stop.

I’m not donating to the RNC. No way, no how! Not as long as McDaniel is at the helm and the party is colluding with the left against Trump.

The Democrats haven’t betrayed the American people half as much as the Republicans. I switched to Independent over 10 years ago because the writing was on the wall.
