I recall my father at the time, was disgusted with GHWB’s pick of Dan Quayle. He felt Bush picked Quayle for his good looks, and thus to sway female voters to vote the ticket. Maybe.

I liked Spiro Agnew. And then he evidently turned out to be a Biden-like crook, accepting kickbacks and bribes. Dan Quayle was a decent enough guy, but a total lightweight.

I’ve read that Bush Sr picked Quayle because Bush was tired of being in Reagan’s shadow for eight years. Bush wanted the spotlight all in him. So he picked a lightweight VP. I don’t know how true that is, but it does make some sense.

I was going to pick those two as well. Ridiculed and persecuted by the America hating Media, Quayle and Agnew probably both were good Americans who loved their Country.
