Saying that he is still undecided about seeking another term, Gov. Jesse Ventura proposed Friday that his Independence Party pick a successor gubernatorial candidate with the understanding that the candidate would step aside should Ventura run.

"If my party feels that I am unfair to them, then they should go ahead and find another candidate, but with the full knowledge that if I do decide to run that that candidate certainly would then withdraw and throw he or she's support to me because, obviously, I'm the most winnable candidate," Ventura said during an interview with the Star Tribune.

Independants only show up on the radar if thier famous. Any Independant Party successor will gather the < 1% of the vote third parties usually get. However, it would be nice if Ventura decided to stick it out split the RAT vote in 2004.

This is just the kind of arrogant pomposity that makes me ashamed to call this lug my governor.

Stick a fork in him, he's done...

This is simply Ventura's way of saying, "If my poll numbers don't change for the better, I ain't runnin."

It seems obvious that the only way dear Jesse could have been elected in the first place was to split the vote three ways, ala Bill Clinton in '92. I think it's finally dawned on him he's not gonna be able to fool anybody again, including the poor misguided young people that voted for a boa-wearing, over-the-hill wrestler and got a head bobbing, over-the-top blowhard instead.

He won't run again...and, if he does, he'll lose. Even he's smart enough to know that.

I think he will run. Remember the time on his radio show when he said something about running and had to take it back? The fact that he made that slip leads me to believe that he will run. Hopefully he won't win.Go Sullivan!
