This to me is W's greatest achievement: the prevention of more 9/11-like events. I wonder how many Americans, Democrat as well as Republican, working in the Library Tower in LA and the Sears Tower in Chicago, realize that they owe their lives to this President's bold policy of pre-emption. A liberal might jump to point out that this is a hypothetical. But 9/11 was not a hypothetical. It was the central event of our time.

This ranks among the most important stories of the year.

Give some credit to the average US citizen as well. Within an hour of the initial attacks, those citizens acted to prevent an attack on the Capitol or White House at the cost of their lives. No hijacking to use the planes as a flying bomb is going to work again. That was a one trick pony. The Islamofacists underestimated all of us that day.
