Why Mary Beth Cahill Hasn’t Been (and Won’t Be) Fired (Inside Scoop from DNC and Kerry Sources)

A long time ago we signed up to receive John Kerry’s e-mail updates … just to keep tabs on the misinformation the old boy sends out. Everyday we open up our mail and are greeted by a message from Mary Beth Cahill, John Kerry’s campaign manager. It’s usually some incendiary vitriol or electronic hate speech about just how awful George W. Bush is. We swiftly delete the e-mails.

Like we said, the e-mails always come from Mary Beth Cahill. Well, a couple of weeks ago while the Kerry campaign was in their “shake up” mode, we half-expected someone else would take over Mary Beth’s job. Seems the Kerry campaign was in disarray and being the campaign manager, she was the natural person to blame.

But try as the Kerry campaign might to enhance his communication staff, Mary Beth stayed the boss. And here we are, several weeks later, the Kerry campaign is still an unspeakable disaster and Mary Beth Cahill is still top dog.

What the hell is going on? Is this an affirmative action thing? Typical Democrat lack of accountability?

Joe Trippi got axed by Howard Dean for doing nothing worse than than Cahill. Kerry fired his first campaign manager Jim Jordan, again for a performance nowhere near as bad as Cahill.

“Mary Beth Cahill is what we call a ‘must hire.’ John Kerry couldn’t fire her if he caught her stealing from the petty cash box,” an employee with the Democrat National Committee told Crushkerry.com. The source, who insisted on remaining anonymous for fear of personal retribution, has daily interaction with the Kerry campaign.

A “Must Hire?”

“She was Ted Kennedy’s Chief of Staff. And John Kerry knows damn well win or lose he’s always going to have to deal with Ted Kennedy,” our source told us. “The last thing Kerry wants to do is fire Cahill and have Kennedy retaliate by tying up all the leftwing money and union support. Those people could care less about John Kerry. But they live off Ted Kennedy’s pull in the Senate. One word from Ted Kennedy and they’ll let Kerry swing in the wind.”

Cahill was brought in to the Kerry campaign under the extensive pressure of Ted Kennedy and Jeanne Shaheen, the former Governor and failed Democrat candidate for Senate in New Hampshire in last 2003. While she is largely credited with helping Kerry mount a comeback against Howard Dean, she has clearly allowed the campaign to spin out of control in recent weeks.

When asked if there were any tensions between Cahill and the new members of the Kerry campaign, most of whom were Clintonistas, our source said yes.

“These new faces on the campaign are seen as proof Kerry has lost confidence in the management team who helped carry him through to the convention,” our source stated. “And folks are really resentful about that.”

The inside scoop on what is going on inside Kerry's campaign, and why it is he can't get rid of the person whose management of the disastrous last 2 months can't be fired.

>Mary Beth Cahill

"In a statement, Kerry called Cahill "an accomplished leader for Democrats and progressive causes." She has worked for EMILY'S List, a political action committee that helps pro-abortion rights Democratic women candidates, and for Bill Clinton and Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass."

So just how many factions are represented in the Kerry camp?

I see at least three:
1. legacy Kerry staffers
2. Kennedy/legacy-Democrat faction
3. Clinton/Modern-DNC faction

I'm tempted to think that there's a power struggle underway
in the Party, but to date, the Clinton people seem to remain
in control at all times, even forcing a Kerry flip-flop back
in March when he promised to fire McAuliffe.

The beauty of this, besides helping to bury Kerry as a viable candidate, this will be the end of the Kennedy regime as power brokers in the Rat party. The Kennedy holdovers will be shredded with their Rathergate files.

I read on a thread here that Bob Schrum doesn't really care whether Kerry wins. He just wants to funnel about $8 million into his advertising company.

I never see anybody fired. The Kerry campaign is top-heavy with chiefs and not a damned one of them can come up with a simple message.

I, too signed up for emails from the Kerry Kampaign.

I'd heard they would send out free Kerry bumper stickers to people signing on for updates.

The bumper stickers are great for picking up Golden Retreiver fur from carseats.

They did send them to me and I did use them to pick up dog fur!

The bonus.....the updates are a hoot!

That was a Rush theme yesterday - that the rats still
aboard this sinking ship are merely trying to line their
own personal pockets.

Could be.

It's been my position lately that the new "help" at
Kerry Kamp really is not trying to get a win, but is
at least trying to turn things around just enough to
avoid a Bush landslide, and massive coattail collateral
damage to other Democrat candidates (as well as try to
get some messy recounts, lawsuits and 4 more years of
"stolen election" ranting).

I saw marybethcahill on FOX the other night, she is one angry woman.....she is between a rock and a hard place.......

I saw her after the Dem convention and she was beet red with rage and deep inner fury...her voice was raw like Linda Blair's in the Exorcist, and she was alternating between growling and shrieking about Kerry's need to beat the awful Bush....it was not a pretty sight as she conjured up everyman's ex wife times six (or six six six).
