Just weird.

As the Canaries are much closer to Britain than they are to the US, and about 20 times closer to the African coast, this "concern" seems a bit misplaced.

I thought the Europeans were supposed to know geography so much better than mere Americans!

Not really, its a big old volcano with a growing crack on it. If it slid off, based on the crack, the eastern US would have about 8 hours warning and a super-tsunami all up and down the coast.

It may happen in the next 100,000 years or so, or may not. The odds are highly in our favor. But its not that weird to consider.
