Santorini exploded in 1628BC. I don't believe this was the end of Atlantis...Plato said 9,000 years ago. I do believe the 1628BC explosion of Santorini/Akatori/Thera provided the 'action' for the Jewish Exodus out of Egypt though.

Ironically, a fellow named Joseph Nazi owned the island in the 1300's.

There has also been excavation of a buried city under the sea off the coast of Japan. There must be many such lost cities.

I have some vague recollection that what Plato said fits the Santorini scenario nicely if various numbers he gives are divided by 10. The Minoan civilization, which was destroyed by the volcano, might have been the Atlantean civilization.

Of course, I don't really know much about Atlantis beyond the old Donovan song.
