US MARINE EXECUTES SHOT MAN
The Sunday Mirror (UK) ^ | Nov 14 2004 | Paul Gilfeather, Political Editor

Posted on 11/14/2004 6:29:14 PM PST by Buckeye Battle Cry

A US marine has sparked world-wide revulsion after being seen shooting an injured and helpless Iraqi.

The sickening scene was broadcast by Channel 4 News after a fire-fight in the rebel stronghold of Fallujah.

The trigger-happy soldier had been asked to get nearer to the injured man.

But instead of trying to capture him, the marine is seen leaning over a wall and cold-bloodedly shooting him.

He then turns to his colleagues and says: "He's gone". Coalition chiefs were last night under pressure to investigate the incident

WOW.

Guys this claim is total BS, and I have the video to prove it:

http://news.yahoo.com/p/v?u=/ap_av/20041111/av_ap_wl/466b61a7bf5a62d27dbfff99d7adb434&cid=452&f=53746348

That video shows what happened, It is by NO means an execution.

This was NO helpless Iraqi.

The troops even explain that they were trying to root him out.

This is completely false.

The truth needs to be spread.

Isn't this the same rag that passes for a paper put those false pictures of torture on Abu Graib six months ago??

This journalist should be handed over to the insurgency and maybe just maybe he can get a different perspective!!

Up yours @sshole.

the problem is that the guy

did not consider how an average oprah viewer

would have acted in that situation.

Ummm...how is this provoking "worldwide outrage" if 1) no one in the US media has heard anything about this (and believe you me, they'd jump on this), and 2) the only Google News story about this alleged incident is this one story from the Mirror?

I saw the video. The Marine leaned into an opening and fired one shot. You couldn't see the Iraqi, so therefore you could not tell if he was dead or alive, unconscious or moving, holding a weapon or unarmed.

Next, it was daylight outside where the Marine was and he had to look into a room that was relatively dark--it would have been tough to see the Iraqi in detail without standing there letting your eyes adjust while the bad guy leisurely popped you. If our Marine had seen an obviously disabled Iraqi, he doubtless would have taken him prisoner. If you're in combat andyou're not sure, you shoot. And that's not a war-crime.

This Marine had probably seen several of his fellow Marines killed in the last few days. It is kill or be killed. I know that sounds like a childish way to put it, but that is the objective in a nutshell. IMHO

Here we go again. Some leftist gutless eurotrash rag trying to undermine American soldiers. Until these eoroweenies have the courage to fight in this war they should shut up about supposed atrocities!

Time to bar any embeds from the Slimes-MirroRed. No Centcom breifings. They should be barred from all Coalition (Iraqi) briefings, Centcom breifings and Persona-Non Grata from any US soldiers..
And these buttheads want the US to joing the International Criminal Court?

I saw that video yesterday. I thought it was great when he turned around and said "He's gone."

The guy was trying to kill them. And there is absolutely no freaking way in hell that anybody without an agenda could say the guy was harmless or even wounded for that matter.

These type of reporters are endangering our troops IMO. Looking over their shoulder and hesitating because of a concern of being on tape and erring may get someone killed.

This sounds like the incident I saw on TV the other night. Raghead was running across rooftops shooting at Marines, they were shooting back. No sure if he was shot or fell between 2 buildings, someone yelled to the Marine to look over the wall between the buildings. He looked over the wall, pulled up his weapon and fired a couple rounds, then said, "He's gone".

The camera could not see the other side of the wall, he may have pointed his weapon at the Marine or was attempting to run or any number of other things. To say he shot him in cold blood is pure BS because the camera only showed the Marine, a 5 foot wall and 2 buildings about 2 feet apart.

A US marine has sparked world-wide revulsion after being seen shooting an injured and helpless Iraqi.

This "injured and helpless Iraqi" was, indeed, injured -- one of the soldiers says so -- but that does NOT mean that he was at all helpless. This terrorist had been, only moments before, in the middle of a gun-battle with our guys. He's been shot. But, since we cannot see what the Iraqi was doing in the video (and I've seen the video ... he's totally out of view and the reporter who shot the footage couldn't see anything either), we simply do NOT know how he might have been resisting or threatening our guys. Just because an enemy has been injured that doesn't mean he's helpless or not still fighting.

The bias of the media making this report is SICK. It's in the title of the article, and in the content -- the way it was phrased. They ASSUME the Iraqi was unarmed and not resisting. There is NOTHING to indicate this. Likewise, it asserts that our soldier executed this guy. Bull ... he shot a wounded but still fighting combatant ... plain and simple. It was justified and valid. PERIOD.

Leave it to the press to make an issue out of this exception.

I'm disgusted by their feeding off of this.

Keep in mind that when Kerry was accused of the same, there was no revulsion.

But it was different with the Kerry killing in Nam! The VietCong was unarmed and was fleeing when Kerry shot him in the back! That's better than capturing the Cong and putting panties around his head for humiliation! (SARCASM /OFF)

If we keep the MSM on the battlefield AND let big-mouthed Senators run this war, it will surely become another VietNam.......
