A US marine has sparked world-wide revulsion after being seen shooting an injured and helpless Iraqi.
The sickening scene was broadcast by Channel 4 News after a fire-fight in the rebel stronghold of Fallujah.
The trigger-happy soldier had been asked to get nearer to the injured man.
But instead of trying to capture him, the marine is seen leaning over a wall and cold-bloodedly shooting him.
He then turns to his colleagues and says: "He's gone". Coalition chiefs were last night under pressure to investigate the incident

One point to consider seriously though. The MSM may decide to make a big deal of this. And then, unfortunately, the REMFs back at HQ may feel compelled to "investigate" (read convict) this poor Marine.
Let's all be ready to FReep e-mail and FReep polls and whatnot to make sure that the "public" opinion is that we don't crucify this brave Marine.

Even if he may have looked 'helpless' on the video no one can possibly tell from a reporter's video whether they guy was prepared to shoot at or blow up a Marine approaching. Until his head is blown right off the terrorist is still a terrorist and a threat. Hey, Mr. Feather-pussy of the Daily Mirror, we'll be happy to embed you with the terrorists so you can do some first-hand, up close and person reporting on their predicament........
It tells me the Iraqi terrorists are not the only enemies in country. Aid and comfort to enemy. Aren't our guys having to go through enough hell without having to worry about what the damn newspapers and MSM say and distort the truth. That Iraqi would be enjoying freedom if he had sat down in the sand and figured out that we were there to liberate him.

The terrorist must have made a threatening move, or there was something that made the soldier decide to shoot. In the heat of battle snap decisions have to be made, if there was a 5% chance of being injured, the soldier did the right thing. The soldiers number one duty is to stay alive.
Maybe the left would be happy if we called it a Late, Late, Late term abortion.
If it was good enuf for John Kerry in Nam to shoot a fleeing kid in the back....

The soldier receives the benefit of the doubt.
The best rule to any soldier is for that soldier to continue his fire until he is absolutely certain in HIS OWN OPINION that there is no longer any threat from any enemy.
Apparently, this enemy is behind a wall. The marine has to view over the wall to have a line of sight to an enemy injured.
Did the marine perceive danger? If so, then he has a right to do all he can to ensure that he gets to come home alive and that the enemy cannot kill him.
The marine should have shot the reporter.
Your #84 tells it all. That reporter was probably delighted that he finally got a 'good' one on the Americans!

Todays media view themselves as "citizens of the world" and know their editors expect them to show the US military in the worst possible light in all cases.
