International law regarding treatment of illegal combatants according to the renowned Geneva Conventions.
Our troops in combat are following the only international law on the books that apply.
If anybody gets their panties in a wad over it, too damn bad!
Nobody in the USA, or the world, even batted an eye, if they even were aware, when USA military members were the preferred targets of terrorists for the last two decades.
Payback is...what it is.
The war is against terrorists now.
They declared it, we are now responding militarily.
By our own, and in accordance with,international rules and laws.
Terrorists are by definition stupid.
That does not give them legal cover, nor does it stay their summary execution, in full accordance with the Geneva Conventions.
They should be on the field ONLY if under the WWII orders--they wore the uniform and took orders like other soldiers and had rules of reporting. Sure, they could report wrongs, but not jump to conclusions the nannosecond something appeared to them to be wrong(wrong in their sight).
Especially here in Iraq--seems they the MSM want to keep the clerics stirred up because the MSM is on their side and want us out of there.

can't we email the marine commander and expose this journalist as an aid and abettor of the enemy?? Imagine something like this in WWII. You can't !! That's my point. If there is anyone whose family has a member fighting there make sure that the Marine Commanders knows about this treachery. Show them the story in the paper. This journalist can have marines killed as a result of his intransigence. Man am I pissed!!!

Note how the terrorists hide in mosques, schools, etc., trying their hardest to maximize their own civilian casualties? Why not just use a MOAB or two and spare some US lives, if inevitably we're going to have to trash the city anyway?

Let's face it, the guy was a combatant in a hot zone.....if he had been walking down the street with his arms in the air, the press would have shown it.
These are Marines, not police officers: you kill until your zone is safe.

I agree, that's all we have (did I miss something?). Everybody seems to be agreeing with the reporter's view that he killed someone. I viewed it and it looks to me like the GI fired a shot and reported that the terrorist was no longer there, "He's gone!" He did not say, "He's dead!" He may have fired the shot just to see if the guy was hiding and would either make break or return fire, or maybe he just popped a cap for the shear hell of it. In the video just before that, the GI talking has his back to the same section of wall. Is there something more specific that I am missing?

I was talking to one our psyops guys and I asked him, "It looked like for a while the 'good guys' were all for us, now it appears they want rid of us too" He said it is because we are being too politically correct these animals, they want use to kick the insurgents ass, not tell them a month ahead of time we are coming to fallujah letting many flee. They take that as a sign of weakness and this dumb ass reporter it fueling it.

Command forces have said the object of the offensive is to kill all the terrorists, period.
Was this a uniformed combatant? No. Was he covered by the Geneva Convention? No.
The world-wide revulsion is aimed at the press!!

even if he had been walking with his hands up - shooting him would be OK with me. the opening sequence in saving private ryan was pretty frank in this regard - after getting off the beaches, US forces shot many of the germans as they "surrendered".
