Bureaucrats run in circles "proving" the problem is intractable.
It isn't. Meanwhile it gets worse.

It appears to have worked for felons registering Democrats.
Maybe the DNC is good for something, after all...

In any case Ashcroft and Zeigler announced that the scofflaws would be added to NCIC DB in December 2001, and not a word since. Yep, right after 9-11 it was announced that some 315K absconders were going to be *aggressively* persued & deported (per *existing* deportation orders).
LOL.....looks like the US has been soooo *aggressive* in this pursuit, that we now have some 400K absconders STILL running loose in the country.

My sentiments too.
I'd also like to see hefty bounties on their felon employers and aids.

Lastly, any boarder agent who says they can't stop the flow of illegals, that they can't deport the ones already here, fire him/her and hire someone who believes they can do the job they are being payed to do! Border Agents ??? How 'bout we RECALL any of our "elected idiots" claiming we can't seal our borders ?? They're the ones keeping our BP from doing their job.
Ziglar, Hutchinson, & Ridge, have all *claimed* securing our borders & deporting all illegal is NOT "practical".

Contract the job out to bounty hunters.Best idea I've heard in a long time, and I'm not joking. These folks would really get the job done.

Immigration officials across the United States are aggressively tracking down illegal immigrants who have disobeyed orders to leave the country I doubt it.
To: Cableguy
Hmmmm...last year it was 400,000 too. Guess they haven't caught too many.
I'm sure they are all picking lettuce though.
To: txdoda
I agree, that goes all the way up the chain of command. Everyone who says they can't, fire them and replace them with someone that says that we can do it. That includes the President.

Start looking at biggs , wal mart and golden corral restaurants just for a start

HUNH?
Read the post I responded to.
To: Cableguy
Budgeting $50 million to catch 400 thousand people is only $125 per fugitive.
Put that way, it does does not sound like a very strong committment.
