Local ABC affiliate, in Los Angeles, reported the Rumsfeld story at 11 PM. The clip showed a soldier asking a question and Rumsfeld giving an answer. That was it...
However, the NBC affiliate dealt with the story somewhat differently. The anchor stated that the soldier, questioning Rumsfeld, was not the only one questioning the war.
NBC 11 PM news then showed a clip about an antiwar meeting at some church in Venice. The reporter stated that some antiwar activists and people, with family members serving in Iraq, got together. The guest speaker was some Iraqi woman who claimed that she lost her right arm because of US bombs... Then I switched the channel...I got the idea that Rumsfeld was questioned about the morality of US military presence in Iraq. I watched the ABC news report...That was not the soldier's question at all...
I guess the local NBC news people decided that Rumsfeld questioning gave a good excuse to publicize antiwar activists.
Old Media, still playing their games. There are too many choices for that to be effective anymore.
Yes, Rummy didn't have a perfect answer. He could have laid the whole thing at the democrats feet, but that doesn't help the troops.
Rummy gave the the unvarnished truth. We wish we could supply enough armor for all the troops, (And I don't mean "Up Armord" Hummers, but Strikers and Bradleys). We don't have them yet.
My local news also reported it, (abc)... and the last thing our anchor woman said was, they will be no charges brought against the national guardmans - I thought, my God... I should hope so!
.... I should hope NOT!
For the love of GAWD is there no end to these articles?
The media overblowing the story is the only problem I have with it. The soldiers asked fair questions though, and Rummy handled it as good as can be expected. Shortages of supply are to be expected during wartime. Doesn't mean they have to like it, of course.
I was wondering that myself. These are legitimate news stories and they belong on FR. But one thread after another? Makes you go hmm.
Not that I'm paranoid or anything.
Now that the election is over, I don't mind the troops asking tough questions. If I was there digging up iron to weld to my vehicle, I'd be a little pissed.
How? The GOP has been in control of both houses of Congress, and the White House, since before the Iraq invasion started.

It's a wonder God doesn't strike you dead when you post drivel like that; you have SEEN a fact you acknowledged since 2003.
And just so you know and I'll know you know, it's against forum rules to STALK other posters from thread to thread.
A slightly different slant. On Hardball, Chris Matthews showed the main clip (including some troops cheering the question) 2 or 3 times during his show. On the O'Reilly Factor, the clip was shown once minus the cheering.
It was the lead story on my local radio this morning.(Wlimington DE.) Also they called the said the new intell bill was bad for President Bush...(ABC's Terry Moran)
