WASHINGTON - Sen. John F. Kerry [related, bio], a fierce critic of President Bush's handling of the Iraq war, will visit the violence-wracked country next month in his first high-profile trip abroad since losing the presidential race.
Kerry (D-Mass.), who is expected to travel as part of a congressional delegation, plans to meet with military and government officials, as well as troops from Massachusetts who are serving in Iraq, his office confirmed yesterday.
``He will be traveling to several Middle East countries, and he wants to thank the troops from Massachusetts,'' Kerry spokeswoman April Boyd said.
Kerry, a senior member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, also will pursue issues involving the war in Iraq, the war on terror and the Middle East peace process during his trip to the region.
Kerry's office said it did not want to divulge details of the senator's itinerary because of security concerns. Kerry last visited the Middle East two years ago, meeting with officials in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Israel and Jordan.
Kerry, who has signaled he hopes to remain a major voice in the Democratic Party despite his loss to Bush, has kept a low profile since the November election. He visited New Hampshire last week to thank supporters and will be in Iowa later this week for a similar visit. The senator plans to meet with Massachusetts supporters around Christmas, aides said.
I hope these troops remember what kerry did to troops from another war.
``He will be traveling to several Middle East countries, and he wants to thank the troops from Massachusetts,''
Thank them? For what? Does this moron think any service people are doing him, personally, any favors? If I were him I would keep as low a profile as possible around members of the Armed Services given his history of using them for his own, cheap and narrow political ends.
I hope he tells the troops that it's the "wrong war, at the wrong time, in the wrong place," and that he "actually did vote for the $87 billion, before he voted against it."
Hmmm...wonder if he get's the same greeting given President Bush or the one given Hillary?
Put him directly on the front line.
.... maybe somehow he'll get lost (or they'll lose him), and he'd have to stay!!!
BaaHaa.... wouldn't that be a gas?
I wouldn't tell him JACK; I hope Rumsfeld has the sense to monitor who he talks to.
Just what we need for him to start interfering with the "Peace Process."
This is like a comedy tour.
The man is a joke.
Then why aren't I laughing? :-)
As he'll be looking for photo opportunities, I'd distribute a few copies of "Unfit for Command" in such a way that a few would be seen in every frame...
He'd just probably cut and run though.
Yeah, maybe they would behead him. LOL Now, THAT would be a gas. :)
LOL!
Of course.
Are Senators eligible for purple hearts while touring comat zones?
Gee, I hope it's after I return to Iraq around mid-month.
And I hope there are lots of rotten fruits and vegetables out back behind the chow hall that day.
;-)
Because he's a piece of crap and he doesn't give a rat's ass about our troops.
People who keep electing Kennedy and Kerry have serious emotional problems.
Ah ha. Returning to the scene of the crime - You Jengis Kahn You.
Does this guy REALLY not know how much he is despised by most people in the Military?
He'll probably get a paper cut in Baghdad and demand a Purple Heart.
